Guest guest
At 18 months we had our son tested for Prader Willi because he had a ferocious appetite. He also did not say much more than mama and dadda. He does not have Prader Willi but prior to getting the results, I was convinced he had it because he was always hungry and we fed him more than enough. We had a nutritionist come visit us twice a month and she too thought he could have Prader Willi because all he wanted was food. He is now 3.5 yrs and his focus is no longer just on food and is now at least within normal weight for his age. It seems like he gradually lost his obession with food and it is no longer an issue. Now we are trying to get him appropriate therapy for apraxia. You mentioned that your daughter has allergies and we never experienced any allergies with our son. I hope that she does not have it but have you considered Prader Willi as plausible explanation for her appetite? From: karababyq <karababyq@...> Subject: [ ] Need Help w/ 16 Month Old Date: Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 4:44 PM Hello- My 3 1/2 year old son just started talking after we took him off milk and added supplements. Now, my 16 month old just started speech therapy because she has NO words or baby babble. At one year I took her off dairy, and at 13 months I took her off Rice Milk so that she only gets water. Her stools are very loose and I can't seem to firm them up. I started Probiotics and supplements but I think this adds to her having loose stools. My Ped. said she is too young to allergy test but she is on the GFCF diet. She also has little red bumps all over her skin which I am sure is an allergy. She is constantly hungry even though I am always feeding her. She is also abnormally large for her size. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try??? I am at a loss. Thank you, Kara
Guest guest
You might consider seeing a Pediatric Endocrinologist. There are some thyroid conditions that cause constant hunger-and there are lots of different kinds of thyroid conditions!! My 8dd is also being tested for a thyroid condition. she is also always hungry!! the Endo said it also may have to do with the way calcium is absorbed. they would do some bloodwork based on your description of whats been going on. just a thought. hope u get some answers. -- In , " karababyq " <karababyq@...> wrote: > > Hello- She is constantly hungry even though I am always feeding her. Guest guest
Try the SCD diet. It firmed up my son's poops in a few days but some it takes a few weeks but man what a miracle worker on his stomach and now he is not on any special diet and has fine poops still. He was allergic to milk, wheat, soy, eggs, nuts, and corn and had leaky gut. We did the SCD diet with no nuts and eggs or the yogurt it says you can make but then added them all later once his stomach got better. He has now tested with no allergies at all on a full panel. I seriously believe this diet did it. It is called the specific carbohydrate diet and it also works with kids who have constipation problems Good Luck!!! My son is also abnormally large for his size and I don't know why. I thought it was the genes on my side of the family. He doesnt look fat he is 2 yrs old 3 months and is 40 inches and 42.2 lbs. ________________________________ From: karababyq <karababyq@...> Sent: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 2:44:34 PM Subject: [ ] Need Help w/ 16 Month Old Hello- My 3 1/2 year old son just started talking after we took him off milk and added supplements. Guest guest
He may have sensory issues with his mouth.Instead of giving him food, you may give him some teething rings to bite. For the loose stools, you can give him bananas, boiled potatoes, peaches.Loose stools might be the reason why he feels hungry. My son doesn't eat, so the doctor gave him something to loose his stools. She said this will make him eat better. When you are constipated, you feel full even if you didn't eat anything. Guest guest
Try very hard to get the book Autism: Effective Biomedical Treatments; it says a great deal which sounds useful for your situation. You're doing several very reasonable steps; maybe the text will add a few and clarify exactly how to combine them all well.
