Guest guest
How to give NV? It is your choice whether you split it or not. A lot depends on whether you think she will drink it all at once or not. Hyperactivity is really excess energy. NV is caffeine free. The energy comes from the complex B vitamins, which are not added but from the food in it. D/c any multivitamins & any supplements which are already in NV. Blend it in any food/drink you think your child will drink or eat. Milk, yogurt, pudding, juice, etc. Be creative! Guest guest
For us it wasn't so much hyperactive (he's already that way), but naughty. I would throw fits, be grumpy, stop around. It took over two weeks, maybe nearly a month, but I never gave him more than 1/2 dose (1/2 scoop) so maybe I prolonged it. There is no caffeine from my understanding, the moodiness is from your body adjusting to good nutrition and balancing itself...detoxifying, etc. During this same time though I saw such changes in my son, so although he was so naughty and grumpy I stuck with it. He learned to sing, dance, sleep through the night, potty trained, speaks much clearer, lost his un un he used in the place of words. Several times, we've missed a day and he always wakes up multiple times during the night. Last week we were traveling and I missed a few days in a row. He completely regressed on his potty training. It's funny b/c despite all I read here, I think that a drink can't really be the reason my son learned to use the potty or is sleeping through the night. But it really is. The naughty behavior doesn't seem to have come back although we missed a few days. He is a bit unsettled, but no more than I would expect from a week of travel. My son is 3 and prefers the chocolate flavor. I mix it with milk as it tastes very similar to chocolate milk. He won't eat it in ice cream, pudding, icing but I've read that other kids will. I give him vanilla flavor mixed in V8 V-fusion. Vanilla seems to have a bitter aftertaste. He went through a time when he refused anything with NV and I just mixed it with a tiny bit of water and made him take *medicine* I'd give him a choice, you can drink all of this chocolate milk or take *medicine* He's been choosing a drink and I've upped him to full dose finally. I mix it up in the morning and he drinks it until afternoon. I discontinued his multivitamin but he still takes fish oils. Liralen > > We have started our 6 yo on NutriiVeda. Guest guest
Liralen, Do you let him sip his drink throughout the day, then? If the chocolate is caffeine free, what process is used to remove the caffeine? Chocolate, even decaffinated, will keep me up for days. She did not sleep good the first two nights. Yesterday, we decided to try both scoops in the AM instead of splitting them up. We will try that all week and see how it goes. I am mixing 1 scoop chocolate and 1 scoop vanilla. Guest guest
My son has been on it for not even a week now (he is also 3), but he really loves it in almond milk. I just shake up a sippy with almond milk and one scoop of chocolate NV. I don't care for milk myself but had to taste it. It tasted very yummy, just like chocolate milk. I know it's very soon with him but I have noticed that he is more focused on tasks when we do therapy and stuff like that. Yesterday, he did have a bad day in the fit department, but that is normal for him on occasion when he gets so frustrated because we can't understand him. Guest guest
yes. He doesn't drink much and so it is a bit of a struggle to get him to finish the NV and then get enough water. I give it to him and then store it in the fridge and then give him some more about 30 min-1 hour later. I try to have him be finished by mid afternoon b/c I am concerned about sleep. He used to wake up 4-6 times a night from birth until he started NV about 6 weeks ago. I don't think the vanilla and chocolate together would taste to good. I give him vanilla on some days and chocolate on others. You would have to ask about removing the caffeine from the chocolate. She's in contact with the company and gets all types of answers for parents. It's just my understanding that the product is caffeine free. Liralen > > > > > > We have started our 6 yo on NutriiVeda. Guest guest
Does he like milkshakes? I bet some frozen banana blended with chocolate NV and some almond milk or other type of milk would be tasty and maybe he'd think it is a treat! Guest guest
nope. He has food texture issues and doesn't drink viscous stuff, like milk shakes. Actually he wouldn't drink milk for the longest time and only recently has started drinking it, I suspect b/c of the mouthfeel. Thanks for the suggestion though! Guest guest
uses her nutriiveda for her breakfast meal. This really helps with her constant hunger she feels from her seizure medication thru out the morning. She is much happier now that she is not feeling the constant hunger. Guest guest
NV is not recommended as a meal replacement for kids because it is fat free and kids need fat in their diet. NV can be used in kids as a healthy way to supplement meals unless otherwise directed by a medical professional.
