Guest guest Posted October 14, 2009 Report Share Posted October 14, 2009 To me it sounds like he need some oral motor therapy. You should probably have someone fully trained in this do an assessment. Again, I'm not an expert but I will say that although my first 2 speech therapists said they were doing this type of therapy, my son always cried and they never got their hands in his mouth much. My son benefitted most when he started getting this therapy and I had assigned exercises I did daily with him at home. We do them 2-3 times a day (different mouth stretches and massage). Nothing hurts although you do put your hands in his mouth for it. I found a huge difference occur in his speech in a very short amount of time.
