Guest guest
Does anyone have any suggestions for Christmas gifts that would be appropriate and useful for a three year old boy with apraxia? Someone mentioned the Leap Frog Tag System to help teach literacy skills. My little guy is cognitively on peer level but has some hypotonia (trunk through facial muscles) and fine motor difficulties. He knows his letters by sight and numbers... Santa and his elves are looking for some ideas... help! Thanks!
Guest guest
Toys R Us online has a Differently-Abled section with toy suggestions. There is a part geared to Language Development. Most of our SLP's in EI always suggested toys with recording ability, so they can hear their own voices. I got the Learn Thru Music and all my kids love to hear themselves. > > Does anyone have any suggestions for Christmas gifts that would be appropriate and useful for a three year old boy with apraxia? Guest guest
any board game is great. it teaches turn taking as well as getting young ones to approximate words. you, as the adult, gets to model the word, and the kids have fun with the game and don't realize it's actually therapy! ________________________________ From: lisad529 <lisad529@...> Sent: Mon, October 12, 2009 3:31:30 PM Subject: [ ] Any suggestions for appropriate Christmas gifts for a child (3 yrs) w/apraxia? Guest guest
One game with that my 3.5 year old likes is Zingo. It is like bingo but with pictures/words. It is very nice quality and has helped him with his words tremendously. It is also fun to play to together as a family. My little guy also really likes puzzles. We recently picked up these word puzzle(http://www.toystogrowon.com/sku861) which he really likes and I think is helping him to read the words. Good luck with Christmans shopping. I am really interested in other responses to this question as well!! > > Does anyone have any suggestions for Christmas gifts that would be appropriate and useful for a three year old boy with apraxia?
