Guest guest
congratulations for all these surges in 3 days! > > We finally started our oldest son (turned 2 in April) on NV. I had some on hand and we had started it once before but he had a really hyperactive reaction/crying frequently so we took him off. My intentions were always to start him on it again but I wanted to get his GI issues under control. Well, our weekend started off so bad that I started him on it first thing Sunday morning. > > Starting about Thursday, he was screaming or yelling everything, talking in a rough voice, hyperactive and uncontrollable. I was at my wits-end. His attention span was short and his was difficult to play with. He has been getting just 1 heaping scoop for only 3 days but here are the improvements that I have seen: > 1. Decreased hyperactivity > 2. Speech has decreased but only the rough speech so he is still using most of his " functional " speech (which is still not much). > 3. Better directive play although he is still fixated on numbers, letters, colors, and shapes (seems that he is hyperlexic although has not been diagnosed) > 4. Decreased appetite; most would think this is bad but in fact, my son is 27 months 47 lbs and 42 inches tall. He has never seemed to have an " off " switch when it comes to eating and stuffing his mouth has always been an issue. But even as early as yesterday, he pushed food away and said " all done " > 5. Recognized emotion. He has never done this before but today he realized that my niece was sad and hugged and kissed her to make her feel better. > > I have not seen much improvements in his articulation but he has already made huge progress in this area so I am less concerned about that. I'm looking for help with the areas above so the fact that after 3 days, he is showing improvements is amazing to me. I can't wait to see where he is in just a few weeks. My only other concern is that he is still having GI issues so I hope that we don't have to stop again. He is no longer on fish oils either so we really need to get that under control. > > thanks to this group for introducing NV! > Krista >
Guest guest
For sure Krista please give us more updates- this is just the beginning surges which is great but not anywhere near what you will be seeing in the next few days, weeks and months. You may want to print out the survey here http://pursuitofresearch.org/survey.html or keep track of what is listed on this page http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html because the surges are across the board and all at once and many times people miss areas. I have a perfect example -when we first introduced nutriiveda to this group one of Dakota's slightly older friends started it not for any reason other than he at 16 wanted to lose a few pounds (he wasn't really overweight or at least didn't look it) As I have here in the archives his grades soared from where he was sent to 3 different High Schools due to his ADHD and behavioral issues to where within a few weeks of being on nutriiveda his mom got a call that they believe now he'll graduate from HS a year earlier. Well his mom stopped the nutriiveda because after all he lost whatever weight and grades were great....but just the other day he came over to my house and both of my boys were TOWERING over him....that's another side benefit of nutriiveda we don't speak of much here but growth- OMG both my boys are around 6 foot now as many of you friends with me on fb can see from my pics where I look short...and I'm not short!!! Anyway yes this friend is going back on. As I said to the mom - " hey we have a window here -any one of us as adults can drink this all day long and we aren't going to grow any more...but clearly this is giving a boost nutritionally to genetics " Anyway point is yes you can start seeing surges in a day to a few days -but for me and most they just continue and you want to look at all areas. Congratulations!!! And please don't leave out updates for the newbies when your child is close to or normal in a few months- this stuff is working so fast that is just what is happening and new people join and don't know about it!!! And if you are reading this and your child has been on NV for a few months PLEASE share with the group your newest update like all of you from http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html as again new parents need to know!! (like how you are out buying dinosaur bedding as a surprise because he never has a " normal " interest like this before hint hint you know who you are!!! =====
Guest guest
So great to hear he is having such great improvements so quickly. If he has a few days where he tantrums or has a " bad day " , I encourage you to power through. My oldest had a period where he tantrumed and just totally wasn't his self for a bit (I think it was around a week or so). It was bad and I even posted to ask if it was normal. He was hitting at us and really seemed out of sorts. After talking to others on here and , I feel his body was just detoxing. I had also started fish oil nearly at the same time so I think I started too much at once. He is three years old and was nearly non-verbal (babbles a ton, but not many understandable words). Anyway, after that period was over, he totally calmed. He has so much more focus and his understanding of the spoken word has improved so much. He is pointing and dancing and his balance even seems better. He is trying new sounds and has picked up several new signs. He tries to imitate Duck now. My youngest son is also on it and is finally trying to speak some at two years and two months old (he had less than five words when he turned two). He started with ECI today with the speech path and immediately starting making sounds he never had. He even replied " yeah " to her when she asked him a question. I about fainted. They sure will show off for others when you say they can't do something. He still is way behind in speech but it's great that he is trying new sounds. He is now doing " bock bock " for chicken and " kack kack " for duck and even tried " bzzz " for bee today. The greatest thing is watching them have better eye contact and dancing around. It's hard to explain the progress to someone who doesn't know them or hasn't seen them in the past. > > We finally started our oldest son (turned 2 in April) on NV. Guest guest
I just had to write about the tremendous and amazing progress my 4 year old son has made in the last five weeks on NV! He has been diagnosed with autism and apraxia and his progress has been terribly slow up till we tried NV which we almost didn't (my husband was a huge skeptic) Everyone is beside themselves at the improvements we're seeing. His occupational therapist asked if he's receiving extra speech therapy and his speech therapist can't say enough good things about his behavior, speech, processing, attention, transitioning, eye contact, social skills, enthusiasm toward therapy, ... WOW! I can't believe I'm writing this as I never do, I just like to read what others write, but I can't sleep I'm so excited! Earlier today, my son ran to the door when my parents came over, full of excitement yelling, " Grammy Grampa! " " Grammy Grampa! " He could barely wait for them to get in the door before he took them by the hand and pulled then into his room saying, " Sit down! " " Play! " Before he wouldn't have even noticed when they came over. He was non stop talking, saying actual sentences like, " Fun play Grammy. " or " Grandpa fun blue tunnel. " Not only that, he is beginning to ask " What? " and " Where? " questions and is starting to say " I want ... " instead of just saying " more cha milk " (his name for his NV, I call it his chocolate milk) or " go outside " etc... He now counts to 20, knows all shapes and colors and knows his alphabet! He seems to for the first time notice his 22 month old sister. Best of all, he hugs her and kisses her without us asking him to, and if she starts to do something she shouldn't he'll say, " No, no Sophie. " Sometimes he'll even add, " not safe! " or " no do that Sophie! " He has a new interest in music now and imitates all of the body movements (and sings along!) to songs like head shoulders knees toes and wheels on the bus etc... He is making huge progress with taking turns and sharing and his sudden ability to be patient is phenomenal but that could also be that he is less frustrated! Sorry to go on and on, but after all we've been through these last few years with IEPs, therapists, doctors, diagnoses, competing opinions, etc... I just had to share how over the moon thankful and shocked I am about all the progress my son has had on NV in the past few weeks! For the first time I feel so much hope. Thank you for this group! Guest guest
This is such a happy tale. Just think this will become your normal and it just goes on from here. Guest guest
WOW!! is right! What an amazing update Brittany- it made my day to read this!!! I think it's pretty awesome that we are able to document the dramatic surges in academics for the preschool group -it is showing up as counting, alphabet and shapes etc. just as you report. I would love to hear what your child's doctor has to say about these surges as well-have you shared with him or her yet as well? I'm so happy for your whole family -baby Sophia too who's big brother clearly loves and cares for her so much and just wasn't able to express that to her before. How incredibly beautiful!!! CONGRATULATIONS! And as I tell others -keep your eyes open because the surges are in so many areas and they don't seem to stop...and at times in areas that will shock everyone as I just posted! =====
