Guest guest
what kind of method works best when it comes to speech therapy for our kids? I think we get good therapy, she has PROMPT training and uses Kaufman cards and my son likes her when she is playful and will make the correct sounds for her or at least 90% of the time and approximation. He screams when in the highchair for more than 2 minutes and wants out. This therapist has taken BOTH approaches, listed below, and now feels she needs to " train " him to focus on therapy directly..and this could take time and a lot of screaming in the -who-knows-how-many sessions ahead and he may HATE therapy altogether and close down...she says they will accomplish more and accomplish it faster (results). I am worried about this, yet will do what is best to get him talking!!!!! but I am undecided what is best for a just turned 2 apraxic boy who has an OK for his age attention span. WHAT IS BEST or what is used with your children: Very direct, sitting in a highchair, drilled from one lesson to another? OR Free play kind of and let child lead, or more like letting him take breaks to touch objects in play mode? thank you so much for helping!
