Appointment includes teaching, mentoring, and advising undergraduate and graduate students in dual teacher certification and LDT-C (educational diagnostician) programs; building strong partnerships with schools, school faculty, and communities; and contributing to a department with a strong vision and innovative programs in special education and inclusion. Faculty members work closely with public schools through the Center of Pedagogy and the Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal. Faculty members are expected to be active scholars, develop a significant body of refereed publications, advise students, engage in curriculum development, and participate in department, college, and university committees. QUALIFICATIONSEarned doctorate in Special Education or related discipline, expertise and experience in inclusive education, and successful K-12 school teaching experience. Expertise in research-based practice for preparing quality professionals to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities. Experience in middle/secondary school special education highly desirable. Understanding of innovative initiatives in special education, such as new theories of disability and RTI (Response to Intervention), and ability to translate these into practice highly desirable. A well-defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly activities. Post-secondary teaching experience desirable.
