Guest guest
It sounds that your son does not have a formal diagnosis, yet you have done 2 years of ABA, is that correct? If he does not have a formal diagnosis, you should consult with a developmental pediatrician who will stear you to the proper therapy/intervention based on your son's needs. I would not rely on an online assessment. > > Hi, > > > I did a assessment on my child that is on line. One thing I notice was his numbers went up more when I had to fill out the speech part of the assessment. So he is moderate autistic. I should go back an d do it and put a false negative on there and say his language an d speech is fine and see what the heck dx it will give. My son is not social but looks at kids and touches them with interests but has no idea what to do with them. Could this be his lack of communication or autism? Its so hard to figure this out. > He has never line toys up . However he never plays with toys or has use his imagination. He did walk on his toes at on e point . I address yeast and that went away. > What type of speech therapy has been most helpful ? What are things I can do to help my son increase his language . He is not nonverbal he is limited expressively communication. When he does say words while repeating his speech is not as bad as I thought. He has his " th's " sound like " f's " . I appreciate any help . I feel if I can address his apraxia and his dyspraxia my child would be so different. > I have done ABA for over 2 yrs and really I saw some progress, but not enough for the price. He still has difficult times to imitate things correctly. He tries to do thumbs up for example but he can not keep his thumb up just has his figures curl and thumb is down . > sorry for rambling on . I am missing a big piece here to help my son. > Best > Kathy >
Guest guest
My son was seen by a developmental pediatrician and gave him a PDD dx. Then 6 months later we went to the autism clinic and had a evaluation by a internist who just sat there and ask many questions while my son was extremely bored. THe doctor read what she wrote and came in the room and told us that my son has autism and he will not have friends , graduate or ever live on his own or get married , basically wrote him off. The developmental peds clinic didn't treat us like the autism clinic did. The autism clinic just ask questions never did anything to interact with my son. Do you think I need to work with a developmental peds and forget this autism clinic . They just said if you have problems with behavior call us and we can prescribe drug for him. I walk out of there and never want to go back. Guest guest
Can anyone tell me what the book LateTalker is about? Does it talk about supplements and therapies used? Was it helpful for you to help your child. I don't have much money so I wanted to get some idea what this book is about. I hope someone chimes in . Guest guest
How about looking for a PROMPT certified speech therapist..and the fish oils definitely helped my daughter within 2 days she was attempting to imitate and and making new sounds. We did not have luck with the DHA but Omega EFA 3,6,9 and a boost of omega 3 after a few days of the 3,6,9..Good luck and remember you are your sons best teacher expose him to many situations and experiences. No one knows what your sons potential really is. Guest guest
Have you tried you local library? I've borrowed it a couple times, read it through a few times and wrote down alot of great info from it without spending the money for the book at this point. I still may purchase my own copy. But for now, I simply borrowed it from our library. Just a thought... Angie > > Can anyone tell me what the book LateTalker is about? Does it talk about supplements and therapies used?
