Guest guest
Hello, I am brand new to this world of apraxia. My 27 month old son has not been officially given a diagnosis yet but he does have hypotonia, sensory integraion issues and severe language delay and his SLP suspects apraxia. I don't want to wait around for a diagnosis. I've just read " The Late Talker " and my gut instinct is telling me that this is the problem. Anyway, even if it's not the problem, taking fish oil can't hurt and it might help right? There is no way my son is going to take a capsule nor am I going to be able to sneak it into his food. He has an oral aversion to smooth textures and I'm thinking the only way to do this is with a medicine dropper. Buying a liquid form of ProEFa seems much easier than sqeezing the oil out of the capsule but I never hear anybody talking about the liquid. Is there a reason why? Does it stay fresh as long, ect? Are there any differences? Is it just as effective to buy a bottle of the lemon flavored ProEFA liquid or do I need the capsules for some reason. I'm not even sure where to start here? Thank you so much for your help.

Guest guest
The capsule does stay fresher longer, but many people have used the liquid as well. You can just poke the capsule with a pin and squeeze it onto a spoon or even directly into the child's mouth. Many kids, mine included, would just chew on the capsule. Two of my three actually like the taste and beg for more! Miche
Guest guest
hi, i'm one of the lucky ones whose child takes the oils right off the spoon, he loves it! i used to mix it in with his yogourt but don't need to anymore. sometimes kids will just know that when you're firm about taking vitamins first, then giving a treat after, things will go well. you can try the dropper, but i'd stop if you find yourself having to hold him down to do it. My son IS like that for taking anything kiddy flavored, he absolutely gags. But he does know that he has to take it, or he loses something he wants to do. He'g great for the " first this " and " then that " approach. If there is something more textured that your son would like, i'd try that first. I have been known to put it in a spoonful of chocolate sauce on really hard days! I'm not averse to bribery!!! As for the liquid. The thing is that it can go rancid quickly and you'll never know that it has turned until you realize that speech (or babbling) has either stopped, or leveled off. The capsules also have some vitamin e in them to keep the oils stable, and that's an addition that my son needs anyways. I've just gotten used to piercing them with a push pin and squeezing them onto a spoon, that it doesn't bother me anymore. hth sandy
Guest guest
I give my son coramega fish oil. It is made for kids and comes in little packs of pudding like stuff. They have it in lemon-lime and orange flavors. My son hasn't tried the orange but he likes the lemon-lime. Here is the link. If it doesn't work just go to amazon.com and search for coromega. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_sq_top?ie=UTF8 & keywords=coromega%20l\ emon%20lime & index=blended & pf_rd_p=486539851 & pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1 & pf_rd_t=201\ & pf_rd_i=B000OQ91M8 & pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER & pf_rd_r=0DSS9HG3EYFGVJGZH5BK
