Guest guest
I just met w/ the SLP and teacher to go over the new MFE or ETR. His (many) sound errors are the same since just a little over a year and 1/2 ago (SD never changed his disability category from prek w/ a disability, so since it was too late to change it legally, they just did a new eval - whatever he's still getting services so...) Anyway, the SLP said he doesn't use pronouns correctly, so of course I had to think about this (b/c you know how we get so used to our kiddos speech sometimes we just don't hear it). So that night I'm really listening and sure enough I heard " her wanted that " . So I tried to get him to repeat " she wanted that " . He said " no, her " , again I repeated the correct response. His come back was " I can't say that " ! So he's compensated by substituting a word that he can say. So we'll start at another place - saying sounds, segment the words, try saying it at different parts of the word. The SLP also said that he's not hearing the different sounds (chose " m " ake instead of " w " ake, etc). So we're trying to do any activities that we can think of to help him hear the different sounds. We have Earobics. Any other ideas? I'd appreciate them all. Thanks, Bonnie
