Guest guest
Yes fight for it. The therapist should be trained to help kids with apraxia. ________________________________
Guest guest
Is your question about your daughter or what you think the EI therapist should be providing to the school district in services? Due process for what? > > Looking for some advice here... > > My DD attends a developmental preschool at an MRDD school. Her IEP specifically states that she is to have speech. There were 2 SLPs, but one left and has not been replaced. The remaining SLP is part of the Early Intervention team, but I feel that she should be giving therapy to all of the kids who have it in their IEP. > >>I am poised to go into due process with the school at this point, but is it worth it? Guest guest
Was direct therapy indicated in the IEP and changed to consult or was consult written in the initial IEP and signed by you? Amy www.HelpMyChildTalk.com
Guest guest
Services for my daughter. I know that I can't speak for any child but her if I go through due process. She is not receiving ANY speech therapy and it is stated in her IEP that she is to have it at least once per week. School started on August 31st and the only speech she has received is from the private therapists we are paying for. ________________________________
Guest guest
Does the IEP say she is to have direct therapy once a week or a consult once a week? Consults can be a form of speech therapy so I would check the wording of your IEP. Guest guest
Direct therapy was indicated in the IEP and changed to consult with NO NOTIFICATION to me. I found out second hand by her teacher. ________________________________ From: Amy Bowen <aeimmie@...> Sent: Tue, November 10, 2009 9:31:53 AM Subject: Re: [ ] School has SLP, but she isn't giving therapy to ANY children!  Was direct therapy indicated in the IEP and changed to consult or was consult written in the initial IEP and signed by you? Guest guest
I work for a school district. They cannot change the IEP without YOUR consent. They have to let you know. What I would do is find out who the director of Special Ed. is in your district. Call the director of special ed. in your district and complain. Trust me they don't want a lawsuit. From: G <whitmore_dh@...> She isn't receiving any therapy anywhere.
