Guest guest
OMG how can you not watch this with tears in your eyes?!! What a beautiful video...just a side note however -in the deaf community this video will cause outrage. Shocked huh? Just as shocking to me that some parents wonder why I'm upset when anyone gives up hope on any age as I believe there is always hope...and you watch me -I myself with help from others in this group will prove that NIH stat wrong. Putting it in writing here is my first step. But back to the deaf community, there are those that don't agree with cochlear implanting a deaf child, they think of it as " mutilating " a child. Just search under " deaf culture " One doctor who had a deaf child with cochlear implants at Tanner's preschool (Tanner went to an oral based hearing impaired preschool) was sign yelled at by a deaf man and this dad signed back " SO IF MY SON HAD A HEART DEFECT AND HAD SURGERY TO REPAIR IT THAT WOULD BE MUTILATING HIM AS WELL?! " . There is no right and wrong, just parents arguing about children's futures and making decisions that they feel best to the best of their ability. I'm on the side of never giving up hope, and on the side with the parents that choose cochlear implants to help deaf children speak. Think the view that it's mutilating " perfectly healthy deaf children " is ridiculous -and have seen first hand with my own eyes the beauty of this medical advancement turning deaf children into hearing students who are just like anyone else in most ways outside of the implant. This video will help all of you see that as well. And here's a link to all 4 videos http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=beancounterbb#g/u As far as the giving up hope...I'm convinced if I followed what his school and professionals said at that time -THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT. No doubt in my mind. Some of you will understand what I just wrote and those of you who didn't agree with me -you just don't understand it yet. I was compulsive and chose not to let Tanner fail just because this or that doctor or teacher or anyone even a stat said it not possible -the world is made up of people who prove stats and doctors wrong -including Helen Keller but guess you missed that quote. And because I didn't give up on my own son in spite of other's belief- he didn't give up on himself -and I provided him the time and tools to succeed and proved THEM wrong. I mean even when Tanner was in kindergarten the one psychologist from the Jersey town school had the gall to call up my son's case manager in Florida and said " You are making a mistake with this child. He doesn't belong in the mainstream he belongs in a self contained class " (probably because they knew I was working on a book and I had to ability to expose their ignorance - but I didn't even though lots of people know where I used to live in Jersey and what blue ribbon school district it was) And if after all my work and belief and not giving up no matter what Dakota and/or Tanner didn't go as far as I saw them -I knew I can never look back and say " if only " It's our children and we each get that choice. To the parent that believes in limits...I have one question right now for you...did you let your child try nutriiveda yet??? http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html Because as good as Tanner was prior to nutriiveda...even I had accepted certain limitations in him like not being able to multitask, his inability to pick up abstract humor and thought, academics, sophisticated language both for speaking and writing -jumping over a 2 foot bush...not that I even wanted that! This was my original letter about nutriiveda -and long before I know the depth of ages and conditions it would be effective for -and not at this point knowing how profound it would be even above and beyond this for my own son http://pursuitofresearch.org/letter_lisa.html Tanner went from blending well into the norm -to rising above the norm on nutriiveda. So I'd be curious if those who believe in finite ability of a child's cognitive ability at a certain age- do they even try nutriiveda. From the stats http://pursuitofresearch.org/survey.html so far we know that in 9 times out of 10 (literally) it will work. Speaking of which: I am planning a challenge and will again prove the NIH stat that you can't speak after 13 years old if diagnosed autistic false. =====
