Guest guest
, I know this wasn't directed toward me and I'm sure will respond, but my son is 2 and smaller than your son and we give him 2 ProEFA a day and 1 ProEPA a day. Hope that helps! :-) -Brittany In a message dated 8/20/2010 7:19:27 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, mcmmmingle@... writes: , I have a 3 1/2 year son diagnosed with severe verbal, motor and oral apraixia. He weighs 42 pounds. I have been giving him 1 capsule a day. I am trying to find out if it is enough or if 2 would be better. We had a break through in speech right before we started the fish oil. For example, he went from saying " cu " to cup. The p is now pronounced to much but we don't care. We are just thrilled to have a complete word.He is now starting to put a few 2 words together.ex. I do. Go bye. etc. But mostly still 1 word and most are just beginning sounds. Again, all this happened before the fish oil and I haven't seen much change with the fish oil so I just wonder if he isn't getting enough? Also, others mention other vitamens. EPA etc. But EPA is in the PRO EFA already so I wasn't sure about adding anything else.
Guest guest
I give it once a day, before bed. We also use Nutriiveda and I do split that up throughout the day, but hadn't thought or even heard of splitting up the fish oil, but we haven't had any issues with it :-) In a message dated 8/21/2010 9:19:26 A.M. Guest guest
I give my son his fish oil first thing in the morning. Does anyone know if there is a difference in results depending when the fish oils are given . . . either in the morning or the evening? Thanks. Guest guest
I haven't triend the PRO Epa yet? What is it supposed to do? Do you give it at the same time you give the fish oil? We are also thinking about the nutriiveda but because we have just seen a surge in speech before we started the fish oil we wanted to wait for a while. > > , I know this wasn't directed toward me and I'm sure will > respond, but my son is 2 and smaller than your son and we give him 2 ProEFA a day > and 1 ProEPA a day. Guest guest
My 2 1/2 year old son was recently diagnosed with Apraxia. I have been reading all the postings and researching fish oil and Nutriiveda. I have some questions and would appreciate your help: When on Nordic Naturals website, I am not sure what to purchase. I know I want to buy Pro EFA and Pro EPA from what I have read. Is it the Junior DHA? I am confused. Where do you purchase yours from? / What am I specifically looking for? How do I determine how much to give? How do you suggest giving it to a toddler? (I am assuming capsules broken open???) Nutriiveda - how do I know how much to give and how do you give it to your toddler? Does it matter when you give it in the day? I am excited to get started with both of these so hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!
Guest guest
Hi Kim! I suggest starting with one and then adding the other so you can see which does what -as parents we are really good at observing the difference in our children -but also don't underestimate the observations from the professionals that work with your child often -mainly the speech therapist. Whether you let them know or not as parents work both ways on this -the therapist will be able to point out exactly what surges they note. As in both cases the surges on and regressions off are pretty rapid they are easy enough to document. There are answers to many of your fish oil questions and probably more here here http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=7401 You can purchase the ProEFA and ProEPA online at sites like http://www.speech411.com and as far as dosage most here range at a start of 1 to 2 ProEFA and some then add a capsule of ProEPA to that...but you can just use 1 ProEFA to start since you will be adding NV too, and from what I have seen due to NV supporting the metabolic system you may not need as much. The fish oils are the essential fatty acids and the NV contains all of the essential amino acids and nutrients from whole food sources per serving. Essential means that the body needs it but can't produce them so we need to consume them. There is no set time to use either fish oils or NV as fish oil is a food supplement and NV is 100 percent whole food and that's it...but in general most of us try to use both earlier in the day. For fish oils most of us gave the dosage all at once, but with NV most of us split the dosage in half to use twice a day. For fish oils we typically saw the first surges in a day to around 3 weeks -but typically after around a week...for NV the first surges are in a day to 3 days and not uncommon to see the first surges within the first 24 hours. The link above for " fish oils 101 " will provide some of the areas of surges to look for in the fish oils and here are the areas of surges for NV to look for http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html and we have a few more to add as we have now two very strong positive anecdotal reports from parents of children with severe aggressive behavior problems...will be sharing both testimonies on this page http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html As far as your question about dosage for NV here's a good basic information page http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html and here's a good page on how to serve it http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html At this point there are quite a few members with children your age who are in the same situation so hope some of them share as well! Let me know if you have any other specific questions! =====
Guest guest
Thank you so much for all the information - very helpful! I will begin looking into all the links you sent.
