Guest guest
Thanks for forwarding my daily blog for me. Our internet is finally up and running once again. Mindy my middle daughter asked Mel to give her a foot massage just to see what would happen and Mel did start to give her sister a foot massage. Mel continued to massage until Mindy said " thank you " and then Mel said the word " done " but in a more of a tone that you would use when asking a question not her normal tone when she says the word done. Once again we were all shocked and again very thankful for the Nutriiveda. I sure hope I can get some sleep tonight. I use to lay awake wondering about how I could help make Mel's life more enjoyable. Now I lay awake wondering the changes we are going to see the next day! Thanks again for introducing the Nutriiveda to our family! Guest guest
I am so happy for the progress that has been making. My 3 yr old son is apraxic and we have had every genetic test done and nothing else has surfarced besides apraxia and some sensory issues. When his neurologist gave the results of the last microarray analysis test he told me that we should focus on speech and OT. When I asked him if there was anything else he would suggest he responded by recommending ABA therapy. I knew nothing about it and of course I can researching but it seems to me that this is used primarily for autistic children. The sentence you mentioned about becoming catatonic after years ago due to ABA therapy really caught my attention. Can you please elobarate on this?  thanks, Becky From: kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> Subject: [ ] Day 5 for from the new daily blog Date: Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 5:12 PM  Written by Robin Ketchum- 's mom ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ DAY 5 I was up most of last night wondering if I would see any more changes in Mel or would our day be the same as day 4. This morning I actually had to wake Mel up as she was still sleeping and the last time this happened was 4 years ago when she was having a series of Grand Mal seizures and we could not wake her but had to call the ambulance. My heart was racing as I was having a difficult time waking her up but when I heard her snoring then I knew she was ok. This ayurveda appears to help her sleep more soundly because typically was an early riser. When she woke up she starting smiling immediately and told me " good morning " which again is very unusual. I always sing a song to Mel in the morning and have sung the same song for years now without any real reaction from Mel. This morning she was able to sing several of the words before I sang them and then immediately put both hands up for a high 5. I thought ok if nothing else happens today I received yet another change. is eating her breakfast (nutriiveda and yogurt) and while eating both sisters walk in from their early morning run and Mel waves to both and tells each " hi " and then goes back to eating her breakfast. I am seeing so many changes that I am thinking today is the day we are trying the 2.2 mile walk around Mulberry Park. This has been tried in the past with many different issues that were not positive issues. We were getting ready to get in the car and it just started to pour down rain. I thought to myself ok now what are we going to do as Mel for years and years prior to these past few days just wanted to sit and watch TV and this morning she did not even ask for it. She wanted to go and do something, she was actually excited and happy. So my youngest daughter and I decided we would take Mel out for an hour or so. That hour actually turned into 6 hours of shopping and eating lunch out. We have never been able to stay out that long with Mel in the past without Mel having pain somewhere or having something bother her. Today was so different. Mel has been calm and content all day even while at ToysRUs during their big game sale that they had today packed with huge amounts of people as you can imagine. We actually heard about the big sale while we were at the book store and knew we did not need anything but I wanted to see how Mel would react with all of those people as the customer in front of me was telling me about how crazy it was. I thought that would be a great test of Mel's new found personality and I was right. Mel just took everything in and actually enjoyed people watching. Lunch was another changing experience for Mel. In the past, Mel has always eaten her lunch very quickly and would look to us to share our lunch with her and give her more. Today she ate slow and really seemed to enjoy her food. Again it's the depakote that had made her always hungry prior. dropped a small french fry in her ketchup and fished it out with another french fry so her hand would not get messy which was a great improvement for her motor planning. In the past, she would have just left that fry in the ketchup. also took her straw and just ran it over her lips several times. We have never seen that as well but she seemed to have a purpose behind that action. It's almost like she's discovering things for the first time and when I said that to her, smiled and nodded. Going to the next store Mel discovered something else for the first time in her life, water puddles! She has seen her sisters splash in them but she has never done that. Well today she did and she laughed even more when she found out the water actually hit both her sister and I. To see my daughters together like this warmed my heart. Again even if the nutriiveda doesn't nothing more than it already did I'd be happy. But of course now I'm anxious to see what else we'll see as this is all so sudden. When we arrived home Mel took off her jacket and the proceeded just to stand in the kitchen and wait patiently. I was thinking what is she doing and I asked her if she was waiting for her Nutriiveda and she shook her head yes so I mixed her 2 scoops in her yogurt and she sat down and ate it with her spoon once again. Mel finally has asked to watch a movie. Usually this is the very first thing Mel will ask for in the morning but it is 4:00 and finally she wants to watch a movie. is now sitting and relaxing and continuing to smile. Her facial expression is that of contentment and happiness. I really feel like Mel is really starting to see her world more clearly for the very first time and I believe she will have to go thru all the changes even though she is 25. Mel really missed so much but who knows maybe now with the help of Nutriiveda she will begin to experience them. What a wonderful gift that would be for both Mel and our family! Guest guest
Hi Becky, Thank you so much for taking the time and reading 's story and about the progress that she is making on the Nutraveda. I would recommend not pursing ABA therapy until a full eval has been done and see what challenges may exist with your son's motor skills. ABA therapy was very harmful to Mel only because she did not have the motor planning to follow her ABA therapist requests. In turn her therapist would get frustrated and then Mel would feel her frustration and become even more frustrated as she was dealing with her own frustration and now the therapist frustration. Please feel free to call me at 770-965-3259 and I will be more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have. There is so much more I have learned since I last wrote the story about Mel that I would be more than happy to share with you.
