Training for parents of students receiving special education services

Have emotional/behavioral issues affected your child at school? Do you know when

and how to request a behavioral assessment? Does your child need positive

behavioral interventions and social skills instruction? Join Family Matters

Parent Training and Information Center and IL Children's Mental Health

Partnership on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Rock Island to learn: when and

how to request a behavioral assessment; what appropriate, functional behavior

assessment includes; how to develop positive intervention plans rather than

discipline plans; and discipline safeguards for students eligible for Section

504 and Special Education.

Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center is funded by the U.S.

Department of Education with additional support from ARC Community Support

Systems.

This free informational session, " Educational Services for Students with

Emotional or Mental Health Needs " will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010

from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Community Support Program, 2200 3rd Ave., Rock Island, IL

61201. Child care will be available by pre-registering with Lawana Parkman at

309-687-7916. Dinner will be provided at 5:15 p.m.

2 CPDUs available for educators and Certificates of Attendance also available.
