Guest guest
My son will be having his IEP meeting sometime next month and I am debating whether I will bring an advocate with me to that meeting. I have pretty much been told that the school does not often provide any one on one speech therapy. The advocate I am considering says that she has seen it be granted but it was quite a battle for the parents to get it. Everything I have read about apraxia as well as my own experience with my son leads me to believe that he would not get the help he needs in a group speech therapy session. My son's diagnosis are Apraxia, hyptonia, and dysarthia. Is there anyone out there in my county that has been successful getting One on One sessions for their child? If so, what type of information did they bring with them to their IEP Meeting? I really don't want to be adversarial but I do want to make sure my son gets what he needs. Thank you for your help!
