DAY 6

Wow another amazing day today! Mel woke up and once again was able to finish

off my morning songs with some more words! For the second day in a row now that

shows me she has been listening to me all these years when I sang to her each

and every morning without a response. Again Mel is 25 years old and this is the

first time in her life she has ever showed me that she's heard me all those

years. I always believed in my heart that she did, but so many others gave up

on her outside our family and to hear her complete my song word by word -it's

just priceless.

A lot more humming this morning, even more than before since she started on her

second day on nutriiveda. It's still so hard to believe that just a week ago

was a different person, a 25 year old that didn't hum, didn't make much

of any noise; and didn't seem to be happy most of the time. And before all she

wanted to do was watch TV. Now she wants to do things. now she just seems so

happy almost all day long; I guess humming is her way of expressing her

feelings- and the smiling, it melts my heart to see my daughter smile so

much. On the other hand based on how little she smiled before I would think

that her face would be sore by now

with all the smiling the last 6 days but not yet!

We let Mel pick out what yogurt flavor she wants to mix her Nutriiveda with and

she is really enjoying the Nutriiveda with her yogurt. She now needs no

assistance at all with eating all of her breakfast and her lunch with her spoon-

a huge breakthrough. She makes sure she gets all of the yogurt out of the

container before leaving the table.

Since we were rained out yesterday, today was the day to try and have the walk

at Mulberry Park. This walk in the past has always been such a negative

experience for Mel and she never wanted to go. She wanted to go even yesterday

-Mel is a new person. Today she was all smiles and walked the 2.2 miles in

under an hour. Look at the photo of her -I can't believe how happy she is. And

I can't believe how quickly she walked either! She shaved off about 20 minutes

from her old time and that time was set over a year ago. Mel really looked at

this walk today with a different attitude. She found more water puddles and

made sure we got wet again. So she had the same motor planning ability two days

in a row with water puddles. Does not sound like a lot to someone that doesn't

know , but to our family it meant a lot for to be able to motor

plan an activity that she probably wanted to motor plan most of her life after

seeing her sisters do it time after time.

Mel's eating dinner habits have changed drastically. She is now eating her food

at a much slower pace but really enjoying her food and the taste. She continues

to try and talk more and interact with the family and was very happy to inform

us of how tired she was after her walk. She also asked me (very clearly) for

her pants in a full sentence- which made 'me' speechless.

I again just have to tell
