Guest guest
Hrm. Well my three year old has had a few nose bleeds this month but the air is changing. My skin is super dry and flaky so I just figured it's the change of climates. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sent: Sunday, August 29, 2010 9:02 PM Subject: [ ] Fish oil and nose bleeds? Guest guest
Wow ! I have wondered the same thing! When my daughter is on full dosage of EFA, EPA, and NV she has so many nosebleeds! It is very strange.... we have cut back on all three now... with regressions! [ ] Fish oil and nose bleeds? Guest guest
Yes, my son gets nose bleeds on Pro EPA or any fish oil, but it also has to do with summer time and dryness. We live in Florida. I notice it more in summer and when he's on Allegra or Benadryl. Petroleum Jelly really helps and saline, keeping it moist. [ ] Fish oil and nose bleeds?  My 3 year old son has been on ProEFA and Pro EPA for about 1 month now, and he's been getting many nose bleeds. Guest guest
Hi , and all, There are so many myths about fish oil -I have below an archive on this. While fish oils are a natural blood thinner to my knowledge however there is nothing in NV that is a blood thinner that I know of http://pursuitofresearch.org/ingredients.html and many reasons why the body needs it even outside of the essential amino acids. I do again believe that NV supports the metabolic system so that one may need less of the essential fatty acids which I may have why here http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html (if not will be adding it) Main thing with increased bleeding when anything is suspected is to get a bleeding time test through your child's doc. To the best of my knowledge in this group there has never been any links to increased bleeding with fish oils, even when suspected as you will read below...but then again when you read the following archive there isn't in heart patients who went through emergency open heart surgery who were on mega high dosages of fish oils either. There are definite differences between a natural and man made blood thinner. Natural works with what the body needs. Again not saying don't take it serious -but get the bleeding time test done through your child's doctor. As a by the way -I used to get bloody noses quite often as a child and they would have to cauterize (burn) the inside of my nose quite frequently. I was not on fish oils as a child unfortionatley -I wish all knew then what I know now. Please learn more about essential fatty and amino acids as well as nutrients from whole food sources. And if I was going to reduce anything -again it would be the fish oils not the NV, not because the fish oils are going to cause a child to have bleeding issues -but because they are not water soluble like the NV is and again I noticed after a few months on NV I was able to reduce my son's fish oil dosage for the first time without regression. Once again do not and will not try to stop them -they are essential -but I don't believe his body requires as much any longer.
