Nolan's mom created a list of fun iPad apps that are also useful for learning social skills, fine motor skills, language and communication skills, sensory skills and others. This video highlights a few of her and Nolan's favorites, like Tom the Talking Cat, who repeats back out loud whatever you say -- just the way you said it -- so kids can hear themselves as they tell a story. " I love how he encourages my child to communicate and build his vocabulary, " Nolan's mother said. A complete list of autism-friendly iPad apps can be found at BookroomReviews.com. Guest guest
This list is great! I've tried to share another app for iPad/iPhone/ipodtouch: I downloaded the FREE IBiomed app on my phone and it is very IMPRESSIVE. Download it from the App Store & go to http://www.facebook.com/ibiomed to suggest new features. They like parental input. Apparently it's great for therapists too! CAREGIVERS & THERAPISTS: 1. It can be used to track treatments such as ABA, PT/OT/ST through the " Misc treatment " section. This tracks treatment start and stop dates. During that quick 5min chat after a session a parent can make a quick note of all your instructions & set them as reminders. These notes are searchable (unlike the notes most mom's have now!!) AND time stamped! Any emails a therapist sends a parent can be copied & pasted into this section too. 2. The daily Journal section can be used to monitor behavior changes, and response to OT/ABA/PT/ST as well as food, school events etc. 3. Parents & therapists can use reminders as a calendar alert for all treatments. etc. 4. Use the email share function to keep in touch with your therapists to share useful info without having to compose a detailed message each time, for each child! Manage your child's Supplements, Rx, test results, diet, food allergies, therapies & track behaviors on your phone/ipad/ipod touch with iBiomed. It has multiple reminders & creates instant " emailable " histories & reports for your healthcare providers or mentors( pple u want advise from on forums!). This will Make our lives easier. > > Download this FREE app from the app store & Join at http://www.facebook.com/ibiomed > > I love it so much & find it very useful, i'd hate for the idea to die off for lack of interest. > > Spread the word. > > That's awesome.
