That's what the Sugar Buster writers say has to be done - eat only one

plateful per meal and the food is not to even hit the rim of the plate.

Sounds like portion control to me.

I thought you finished those months ago! I guess it really*was* a busy

winter for you!

Steel wool and glue traps (with chocolate in the center) is what got rid of

ours this past winter. And you have to move the traps every day because

those critters are smart and will walk around a trap once it knows where it

is.

If you're the type that won't harm even a mouse, you can call an

exterminator for live traps then pay for proper disposal/release, but around

here it's not cheap.

Have fun!

Yes, they say up front that you have to control portions. It's a very

nebulous thing though since the program doesn't require measuring and

counting. I was counting calories with SB but I got lazy. I'll go back to

that if I don't have a loss on Mon. Counting calories (or points or

whatever) is such a hassle but it's the only way to really know what we're

consuming. I've been having a chef salad for dinner a few nights a week

with lettuce, cheese, ham or turkey, pecans and dressing. It's very low

carb but certainly not low in calories or fat. (yes, I checked the sugar

content on all the ingredients.)

I got the top ones painted in the fall and then got busy with the holidays.

I removed the bottom doors and sanded them weeks ago but never got around to

priming and painting them. I have to paint 15 bottom doors and that doesn't

even include the drawers and carcasses. The top cabinets do look great

though. :)

Aren't the glue traps really disgusting though? Do you go in in the morning

and see the mouse writhing around in the glue? How long does it take them

to die? Sounds pretty terrible. How do you pick them up? Do you just

throw them in the trash? I'm a flaming feminist but I'm still squeamish

around furry little critters. :)

I don't mind harming a * & *# & mouse that is in my house but dh is a different

matter. He thinks that we can make them go away just by cleaning up more.

I agree that that will help but we have two kids. There's always going to

be a goldfish or piece of cereal on the floor somewhere for them to find.

I've thought about getting some live traps. I haven't called the

exterminator to ask for estimates.

The first time we read them aloud, I think Noah was 6. But we did them a chapter or two in the evenings, and we sort of warmed up with the Hobbit. It is a much more entertaining read than the trilogy. Enjoy your trip! I spend a lot of my time at the Dallas zoo. We have a pass and my son is a volunteer there. If it is warm enough to go, you should check out their children's zoo, it is awesome!

Even on free day you can eat intentionally instead of haphazardly.

Make sure that what you eat is worth it instead of whatever stale

forbidden stuff is lying around. You could even plan what you want

like a bowl of ice cream, or a burger, or whatever. Even on free day

having a plan is better than having no plan. You'll probably eat less

forbidden stuff if you plan it out.

A teacher at my kids' school commented to me that she lost a lot of

weight simply by stopping eating the food her kids left on the plate.

Again, this type of food looks better in the garbage than on the butt

as she found out.

Sounds like you had a great week.

My DH laughs at me, but I like the reduced fat string cheese better than the regular..it " strings " better in my opinion and I

still like to play with my food.

As for me my calories have been a bit high, gut that is mainly due to all the gatorade I have been sucking down trying to stay hydrated in this heat. I had to work outside for a few hours several days this week and there is just nothing worse than being stuck outside in dressy work clothes in 100+ degree weather. BUT I am done with that for awhile...YEAH..so no more gatroade for me!.

Great to hear ! We need to hear more stories from people who it's

helping so that the few people who do have issues don't carry

disproportionate voice on the group as the have been doing and scare

people off starting! We need to hear both sides of course but for quite

a while now it's been people with issues we've mainly heard from while

all the people it's helping don't worry about posting because they've

met or exceeded their expectations and don't want to disillusion those

not doing so well.

Problem with that now is it's swung far too far the other way and now

people who could benefit are being scared off trying it (maybe some

deliberately by 'plants'???).

I start tomorrow on 3 mg., after 2 weeks of 1.5 mg.My first experience, thus far, has been a marked increase of energy. Before taking LDN I was very fatigued - and am using LDN for HIV infecctionwhich I've had since 1987.  So to have increased, remarkable so, energy is amazing. One side effect, related to a cold or allergies is that my right ear is clogged and I cannotunclog it.  I wonder if this is related to the LDN in some way?  I have had, strangely, someminor muscle spasms in first my left arm and then today for a short time in the right arm.  Thisis unusual - and must be related to the LDN.I feel that the LDN is activating my body (and hopefully immune system).  As it becomesactivated, these things occur, so it seems. All and all, things seem very positive with this.On Jun 1, 2009, at 2:12 PM, C wrote:Great to hear ! It's a no bummer for me since it can't hurt, what's a few sleepless nights - if you get them, surely this is a minority, since people only tend to post when they are having problems and not otherwise. I was given 6 - 12 months to live over three years ago, I got myself on LDN and here I am still kickin'... I intend to keep it that way!! Never any doubts............

OK, I am responding to those who want more people to speak up with

positive things about LDN. I stopped doing so because I didn't want my

posts to be showing up all the time. I've been answering individual

messages but not the group.

I don't have any of the awful auto-immune diseases we hear about all the

time. My desire was to enhance my immune system so that my asthma

wouldn't be triggered by every cold and virus I caught which would start

me coughing for 2-3 months afterwards. Since starting LDN last July, I

haven't been sick and discovered that my allergies have greatly

diminished. I haven't needed inhalers and very rarely take Singulair any

more. These were my constant companions beforehand. My open-minded

internist said LDN probably wouldn't cure my asthma but might prevent me

from catching bugs to begin with. And she was right.

My only complaint with this forum was when so many were claiming that

only night time dosing would work. In my case, I graduated from 1.5 mg

up to 4.5 by dosing at night and then reverted downwards to 3.5 mg

because I couldn't get consistently good sleep. Four months ago I

switched to morning dosing and now sleep well and feel great all day. I

would encourage everyone to listen to his/her own body and not be overly

swayed in any direction. Elaine 's book, " The Promise of Low Dose

Naltrexone Therapy: " from amazon.com has a wealth of information for

anyone wanting to learn more about LDN, its history and effectiveness

for all sorts of diseases.

Did you not read where I said " we need to hear from both sides " ?

Personal denigration?????

What I'm saying is that it's human nature with this sort of thing to

tend to hear much more continually from the few people having problems.

From my experience from being on this forum five and a half years and

from a few surveys that have been done the percentage of people who have

problems is very small. However, new people to the forum tend to hear

mainly from those few people having problems and many people who could

benefit from LDN are instead getting the wrong impression about the

likelihood of having problems and are being scared off trying it. It

greatly concerns me that people are being scared off trying it!!

That is what is wrong and why I'm asking the many people for whom LDN

has been beneficial to ALSO post and balance the ledger somewhat.

Again - we need to hear from both sides but not disproportionately as

has been the case for quite a while now.

Hi Garnet,

Yes, I think we've seen a few of those over the years.

Money is a motivator, but so are ego, power, prestige, etc.

Other, not so obvious, disruptive strategies we've seen that feed fear,

uncertainty,

and doubt are ...

Keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer

Divide and conquer

Discredit

I have no doubt people who work in the pharmaceutical industry are members

of this group.

In any industry, checking out the competition is part of the job - and all

you need to join THIS group is an email address.

And ... it's not tooooo much of a stretch to consider those developing the

next big blockbuster MS, HIV, or cancer drug, or vaccine, would be worried

about LDN, and could be planning or already carrying out competitive

strategies.

With very, very deep pockets ... when one plan or strategy doesn't work as

well as you'd hoped, well, you can just move on to the next, and the next.

That's what markets do - all day, every day, across the world.

They're not about the best quality product and the most genuine service,

they're about the best marketing campaign, and the most competitive

strategies.

People on the other hand, are people - gorgeous people - they are fathers,

mothers, sons and daughters - not corporations - and they can inherently

distinguish right from wrong.

I tip my hat to you ulm :)

You wrapped it up so beautifully and succinctly with ...

'we are just trying to get better'.

Most here are trying to help you do just that,

all my best,

DAY 7

I was thinking to myself how could this day be better than the past 6 days!

Well I am sitting here writing with tears in my eyes. Today is the best day yet

and a day that I did not think would come so quickly with the Nutriiveda or if

that day would ever come. Mel is 25 years old and only been out of the house

when I was with her. Her sisters one who is 20 and the other who is 15 have

always wanted her to go with them once my middle daughter had her drivers

license. I am happy to say that tonight Mel is out with both of her sisters and

my middle daughter's soon to be finance seeing the light show at Lake Lanier. I

asked Mel if she was going to miss me and she said " no " but followed up giving

me a kiss on the cheek and a big hug and then smiled at me and said goodby while

waving to me. Mel seems to be consistent with the new founds skills she has had

within the last 6 days as she has been using them thru out the day today. The

overall calmness Mel feels has made her sisters realize now that they can go out

and have fun and not have to have Mom there all the time. This weekend they

have a shopping trip planned for Christmas thanks to my Mom and sister for

sending them Christmas money.

I just have to say thank you once again to
