Hi gang,

Ive noticed after i teach aerobics (this could be an assumption; maybe

just some random evenings it happens) i have really bad junk food

cravings, BUT ONLY WHEN I AM THIN; that is, not when i am between

125-130 pounds... (I am 5.5 1/2 and currently 120 pounds - " set point "

is probably 125 ish. I never weigh above 132 and have only gone below

115 a few times -not on CRON, when competing in a sport-).

IF the cravings (demandin AS HELL) are a function of my having < 14%

body fat, or from simply decreased body weight, i am assuming they

will get worse as i get more cron'd... but if its from intense

exercise.... i'll be giving that up (just the intense, not the

exercise) after a while on CRON.

Can anybody help me tease this out? It is definitely NOT hunger, even

though i am often hungry after teaching aerobics (especially if i have

allowed myself high GI foods. I no longer do that). It is definitely a

junk food (ice cream or chocolate) craving. I don;t keep anything in

the house but it is miserable....

I recently switched to a macro ration closer to the Zone (although

Sears' books read like he is an idiot) because of sound arguments on

the main list (and my subsequent research)... anyway, it is better on

this macro ratio (even though eating fat makes me nauseous still) but

i am preparing to restrict my calories further and i am nervous about

the misery... not that i am a wimp, i am not at all... but hunger

seems a demanding biological imperative; anybody else go through this?

i am assuming the junk craving subside.

I hope my question is clear; i am asking about junk food cravings in

early CRON/CRAN, and -possibly- any connections to extended and

intense exercise (I know i'll have to knock that off soon but i am

waiting to cut intense exercise till after i am in the CRON zone; am i

shooting myself in the foot?)

I swear there is a question in here somewhere...

Hello ,

Regarding the junk food craving after exercise, I noticed when I

first started CRONing that I too had junk food cravings. I soon

narrowed it down to what I actually had was either a salt craving or

a sugar craving (since most junk foods are either salty or sweet).

My guess is that your salt balance is out of wack after exercise. I

would recommend that you try munching on some celery for sodium

either right before or right after exercise. And chase it with some

orange juice for potassium. Try it both ways to see which has

better effect on you.

My problem was sweets (got the world's biggest sweet tooth). I

solved my problem by having a desert dish full of mixed fresh fruit

(around 175 grams) after dinner each night. I keep all kinds of

fruit in the house because I become easily bored with " an apple a

day " . I'll mix some sliced strawberries with some red seedless

grapes and blueberries and cantelope and kiwi and pineapple.

Variety seems to be the key, at least it was for me.

I seldom get hungry now even though I am only consuming around 1200

calories most days. Mental attitude certainly is important also.

Hope this helps,

Bob
