Guest guest
Kathy- I don't see that you told us what grade/age your son is. You said he has a DRA of 3..at what age? this is kindergarten pre-primer level. Fundations at my school was a catch up program if kids were behind in reading and spelling. It is based and our school tutor didn't use it exclusively- she mixed it with other programs.. can be good IF the teacher does it well. Check and see how it is to be carried out by calling the program and confirm that the teacher/tutor does it in the same fashion MAKE sure you see assessments to see progress, I didn't get them in writing until I looked into my son's files in the main office and they said he was doing great- for year he was in the program..when in fact HE WASN'T doing great and I pulled him out of it and got him an OG program. My school used it for a group of 6 kids in a pull-out class. my school program WAS NOT good for children with dyslexia or as the school says " SLD " ..so becareful..it does not remediate all kids or teach all kids well. Does your child have dyslexia on top of apraxia? Now that my son is in an OG program and I talk to many moms- this seems common. Dyslexics need a specialized one-on-one program.
