Guest guest
Hi, We gave the flu mist, and it didn't disrupt his cycle at all. As a matter of fact, his fever arrived just on time, but the bizarre thing is that it only lastedabout 2 days and it was at 101.5 at the highest (we are used to 103.5-105.9). My daughter got the shot, and she had a low grade fever for a couple of days. Just thought you may be interested, as I haven't seen any posts abot the mist. Good Luck, Olga
Guest guest
Definitely go with your gut. I did opt to have my son have the shot. Coincidentally he started his cycle just a day after the shot. Whether it is related or not to the shot I dont know. But I do know that ever since he was an infant he always experienced some sort of reaction to his shots. The only thing I can say is that the shots are necessary to fight other life threatening conditions, and I would rather deal with symptoms then have to deal with the actual disease. This is definitely a tough decision to make. Just try to consider ALL of the factors.

Guest guest
If this group has tought me anything, it is that each child with is a bit different. I hope that you will be able to decide how to proceed with your daughter without too much distress. I don't know if it will help, but I can tell you that my daughter, , had long before her flu shot. I am very wary of some of the vaccines (and the volume of them that are required) so I totally understand your concerns. was accidentally given a Hep vaccine as soon as she was born (it was intended for a different baby on the ward) and I often wonder if this might be why she has and her identical twin, Alice, does not. They eat the exact same diet, sleep in the same room, etc. There are VERY FEW possible triggers that one was/is exposed to and the other not. Anyway... we gave her first flu shot a few weeks ago and she seems to be just fine.. She was recovering from a slight cold, so I was very nervous. Her fever was delayed by two weeks this month, but I think that was due to the cold. She would normally have gotten it before the flu shot. Her fever was no worse and lasted no longer than usual this month. She just had it this past week. She will get her second dose of the flu shot at the end of this month. Since it is a killed vaccine, it seemed to be very mild for her. I did make certain to look at the label to verify that it was a pediatric dose and free of thimerisol. I hope that it helps to know that at least one child seems to be fine after the shot. I don't know if it will assist you in making a decision for you own daughter, but I am right there with you in agonizing over every shot they get and what might happen! Best wishes, Sara Pettingill (22 mos. fevering since 15 mos.) Alice (22 mos. fever free so far)
Guest guest
Jeanne, Would you please review and let me know if we can send this out to all? I am very concerned about the general flu shot and the H1N1 flu shot to give to all of my children. I've never given the shot to any of my children. Two of my children are fine and the baby who is going to be 3 in December is the one with dev. issues and has seizures. I am wondering what people's thoughts are and if any of the parents have given a shot to a child who is on seizure medication such as Keppra. I would like to know if...one...they gave a regular flu shot to the child on seizure medication and there was no reaction and....two if they gave the H1N1 flu shot to the child on seizure medication in particular Keppra and there was no reaction. I am very concerned, but would feel more comfortable asking parents who have a child like mine with dev. needs and has seizures. Also, did they give the child the H1N1 without mercury?
