Guest guest
Hi, The last seminar for 2009 will be held on Thursday, December 17th. The subject is Autism: Made in the USA. All those who attended the last seminar, Vaccine Nation, were in a state of shock at hearing what they were never told before. The Autism seminar may shock many also. Especially when they find that there are many " alternative " treatments being utilized including nutrition, Chiropractic and many 'DAN' medical approaches. If you want to learn about these call to register for the seminar. As of this writing there are 5 seats left. DRM ARTICLE 12/12/09: Autism Recovery Stories: Diet and Chiropractic care December 10, 2007 By 2016, there will be roughly 1.5 million adults with autism in the U.S., writes Chicago Tribune reporter Rex Huppke in a two-part series profiling , a 24-year-old powerlifter. Here's the story of another autistic boy-- Felker--who has made tremendous strides thanks to early intervention, dietary changes and weekly visits to a chiropractor, according to 's mother, Felker. She talks about treating in the latest installment in a series of autism " recovery " stories. " Our third child, , was officially diagnosed with PDD-NOS when he was four years old. I spent some time after that wishing I had understood and known sooner, but I eventually got beyond that and got busy trying to find ways to help him with the time we had. We noticed there was something different about fairly early on - actually within an hour or so of being born; when the nurse wheeled us into our room, he was making whimpering noises and she commented, " That's not normal. " Her words haunt me to this day. Aside from jaundice, though, he was healthy and was hitting his developmental milestones up until around 16 to 18 months. He had quite a bit of spitting up, but I chalked that up to often having to feed him and then go, with two other children to take care of. also was very sensitive to noise, often covering his ears and screaming when people clapped or when he was in a crowded room. became increasingly " difficult " and began having more trouble sleeping. He did not talk much and even lost some of the initial words he had spoken. Lots of people said that his older brother and sister just talk for him and that was common for the youngest not to say much. I thought we were just in the terrible two's and then three's and then four's. The diagnosis was really a blessing. We actually had people who knew what to do and we began to speak his language through pictures. He began an early intervention preschool program in addition to his typical preschool program and we were able to get wraparound services pretty quickly, after such a long wait to get him evaluated. I wasn't about to waste any more time. He had been receiving chiropractic care since his initial screening; we were rear-ended on our way home. That was the first start to his recovery. Our chiropractor, who attends our church, said he'd been praying for a way to approach me about how he could possibly help . We were meant to get in that accident the day the Intermediate Unit screeners caught the warning signs and scheduled him for further evaluation. Our BSC first mentioned the gluten-free/casein-free (GF/CF) diet to me and initially I was very wary. loved milk; some days it was practically all he had - how could he give it up? After attending an information session on the diet and trying some of the foods, my husband and I decided to give it a try. Things have been better ever since. Within the first month of reducing his milk (we took the diet slowly to reduce the withdrawal syndrome) we noticed an " explosion, " to quote his BSC, in his language skills. He is now speaking at an age-appropriate level after initially testing up to two years behind on some of the language skills. We took him to a specialist in the area, after being on an eight-month waiting list (it's now up to twelve-months) and discovered he had sensitivity to soy in addition to gluten and casein. has been on the diet in some form for a little over two years now and is currently in a typical first-grade classroom with minimal help from an aide. He still receives speech therapy for articulation and occupational therapy once a week. He has been faded from his TSS hours and his BSC hours were reduced to two hours a week. 's success can be attributed to many things. The diet enabled him to learn and catch up on so many skills with his TSS and in a therapeutic social group for kids on the Autism Spectrum. We tried applied kinesiology (muscle testing) briefly and feel that may have helped him. He continues to see a chiropractor weekly as well. We also refused his last MMR and DPT vaccines, installed an ultra-violet filtration system for mold in our home, and are more careful about which cleaning products we use. In my eyes, is still on the Autism Spectrum and probably always will be, but he is no longer isolated and he is able to share his incredible gifts with others and receive what they have to offer as well. So many people say to me now when I mention that he is on the Spectrum, " I never would have known. " I take that several ways - neither would I if not for the able screeners at the Intermediate Unit and neither do so many people who just think they have " difficult, distant " children. That's why awareness is so critical. And sometimes, the " I never would have known " statements bother me because they don't realize the hard work he's done to catch up, and, to be honest, the hard work we've all done as a family to adapt and help. But ultimately, their comment is a testimony to how a dedicated, skilled, and loving group of people can all work together to help a little boy find his voice and express his gifts. " Posted at 11:22:43 AM in Autism, Autism recovery stories COMMENTS: A report published in the March/April 2000 issue of the Medical Sentinel links the recent increase in autism to the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) combination vaccine that is commonly given to 18 month-old children. In a previous study of autistic children, researchers found that 84% of autistic children had antibodies against their own brain tissue, which indicates that their own immune system was destroying brain tissue. This antibody is very similar to the antibody that's formed against the MMR vaccine. Also, the MMR antibody was found in 69% of autistic children but in only 10% of normal children. By way of commentary, vaccines can be dangerous. Along with autism, they have also been linked with an increase in the number of cases of asthma and diabetes. If you do choose to vaccinate, you should make yourself aware of the dangers and complications so that you can make a fully informed, educated decision. For more information on the dangers of vaccination, the National Vaccine Information Center maintains an extremely informative website at www.909shot.com, or they can be reached at 512 W. Maple Avenue, #206, Vienna, VA 22180. Their phone number is 1-800-909-SHOT (7468). A good vaccination-dangers Q & A site can be found at http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm I strongly urge you to contact these organizations, visit these sites and arm yourself with education. On an issue as important as this one, there is no way in the world you can have too much information. I also urge you to attend my in-office seminar on Dec. 17th (see information below). Guest guest
Thank you for posting this Jeane. Very informative. All this applies to a variety of neurological disorders including ADHD, OCDs, learning disabilities (which one in 6 children has today in America according to the the public school system records--most likely more since many children with disabilities are home or private schooled)--and YES--apraxia too--. There is definitely a link between neurological damage and environmental toxins which also damage the metabolic processing and autoimmune system salong with gut and other organs. Very complex and there is always the genetic predisposition factor which is why some kids get asthma and others skin disorders or early onset diabetes along with their neurological disorders package. It is all a neurological disorder continuum where environmental toxins from a variety of sources--but vaccines and amalgam fillings (in the mom of course) are top of the list, but unfortunately not the only sources of harmful toxins and toxicity is synergistic, meaning they interact and cause more harm. For example, aluminum + mercury or lead = 10 times the toxicity of either one alone. Thank you again for posting this. All the best, Elena
