Guest guest
Suzanne, This letter went out to those in the Michigan program: Revision to FirstLab Testing Options March 29, 2006 The Health Professional Recovery Comittee (HPRC), composed of representatives from the various licensing boards and governing body of the Health Professional Recovery Program (HPRP), met on Monday, March 20, 2006. After careful review of results from current drug screen data, it was determined ETG Testing (Option 2 and Option 4) will be suspended as part of the screening process of the program. The HPRC has directed HPRP to forward information regarding changes in testing option(s) at FirstLab (see applicable chart below). Former Testing Option New Testing Option Option 2 Option 1 Option 4 Option 3 Options 2 & 4 Options 1 & 3 HPRP's Monitoring Specialists are available to answer any questions regarding these procedural changes. Does anyone know about this? They are using the standard urine alcohol test. He would not send me any documentation since I am from California and not an active client of their program. Guest guest
The article doesn't say which SLP techniques or modalities they are using. It does state that it is ONLY for VA pts who have had a stroke. Based on that criteria, your child would not qualify. If I knew what techniques/strategies the SLPs are using, then I could give you more info on whether the same technique would be appropriate for kids. There are several differences between apraxia after stroke vs. apraxia starting as a child. Adult apraxia (after a stroke) is characterized by difficulty accessing (saying) the sounds in words. Adults did have the ability to motor plan the sounds and now, post stroke, they can't motor plan correctly. Children know what they want to say (as an idea) but have not (usually---unless just once) said the words. They have difficulty motor planning because they have NOT been consistently successful in the past----whereas, adults have. So, it's retraining motor plans with adults but teaching/training new motor plans with kids. Let me know if you have further questions.
