Guest guest
My son, 4 1/2, has recieved traditional speech therapy for the last 2 1/2 years. He has made great strides, but still struggles with /f/, /g/, /r/, and /k/ sounds. Would Prompt therapy benefit him for fine-tuning and adding new sounds? Thanks! From: NotefrmSue@... I didn't realize this was the " Nuffield " method but I used something similar with my son and it really is great. I still use the visual cues that matched the cards to help my son remember to make certain sounds when he leaves them out. [ ] Re: Nuffield Program - appropriate way to treat axpraxia? Hi, I am in the UK - my son has autism and verbal dyspraxia. We use the Nuffield system ( found this before Prompt- which is brilliant as well). THe Nuffield system really helps my son as it gives a visual symbol to represent the sound he needs to make. eg for O there is an octopus and for Oh there is a fish with its mouth letting out bubbles. So if i am asking him to say toe i would show the t card(tap) and the OH card.another eg to help him say four i show the f card (feather) and oar card(oar). I love Prompt although there are very few trained therapists here -so if i was you i would stick with it, but dont disregard the nuffield stuff - we are definately able to use both systems . Good luck Sue
