Finally got Fish Oils out in FIRST WASH

Hello all:

As we all know, the stinky fish oil seems to never wash out of our kids clothes.

I can't tell you how many cute shirts/pajamas I've had to ditch b/c I couldn't

stand the smell - even after multiple washes.

Earlier this week, my son spit out 1 tsp of fish oil (NN 3,6,9) all over the

front of his shirt. I was not a happy camper. I assumed, as all that went

before it, the shirt was a goner. I didn't even wash the fish oil off. I just

threw it in the laundry room where it sat for 2 days.

Did laundry tonight and thought I'd again make a useless effort to try and get

it out. I pretreated with that new Tide Stain Release in-wash booster (in the

orange bottle). I didn't even let it sit for a while...I just pre-treated and

threw it in the wash.

Oh. My. Goodness. After I removed it from the washer/dryer process I

inspected: NO fish oil stains. NO fish oil smell. Surely not. I have a

pretty sensitive nose, but just to be safe I made my husband sniff - he agreed -

no sign of fishiness.

I assume many of you have gone through the same so I wanted to share. Hope it

works for you and you have less stinkiness in your home :)

ps - not sure how it works for the capsules, but on the straight fish oil it

seems to do the trick.

Sharon, if you're right about thsi one it means I do not ahve to repaint my

kitchen ceiling--because let me tell you--when my daughter was 3 m old I started

giving her the fish oil with the syringe--and one time when i was extra tired

and trying to get it to flow properly before giving it to her I let it squirt

accidentally into the ceiling----I've washed it scrubed it, rubed it with

anything you can think of--including oxygen bleach--the stain still comes

through--it disappears for a while--looks like it's gone--only to start

reappearing--that brown stain just resurfices--no matter what I do--including

painting over it--I probably have to paint brown to be sure I don't see it any

more )-----so if your tide stick works-hey!--i won't have to paint my ceiling

brown after all :)

Let me know if it's still OK in a few weeks.

All the best,

Elena

Great advice. Thanks so much.

A ProEPA capsule exploded all over me before work one day and I've never gotten

the stain out. I'll definitely try this!

Thanks so much for the tip. I'm currently trying anything and everything to get

it out of laundry. My 2.5-year old fights taking the fish oil. I give it to him

like medicine, in a syringe, while I hold him. Sometimes he fights it more than

other times. It's not about the taste (because I know how he reacts to really

bad-tasting medicine), more about the being forced to take something. It's

really the only way with him for now. But anyway, we get it on clothes, we get

it in hair, we get it everywhere. It has totally infected my laundry. I will

happily try this new tip.

Thanks!

The first time I gave my 2yr old fish oil I put the capsules in his little bag

of fruit snacks and he ate them.  He loves fruit snacks and he doesn't get them

regularly so maybe it was the excitement or he just thought it was a lemon fruit

snack?  He bit it and swallowed the oil no problem.  Now he just takes them by

themselves.  The taste of the other fruit snacks in his mouth may have covered

up the taste too.
