Guest guest
Well, it sounds like he is making progress, which is good. Is your SLP trained in PROMPT or Talk Tools techniques? It is important to increase the # of words that he can use but at the same time to increase his speech clarity. Feel free to email me off list with more details. What did his sessions consist of? It's important that his SLP uses some type of motor planning techniques. Warmest wishes, Barbara , M.S., CCC-SLP www.helpmespeak.com 410-442-9791 Ask me about NutriiVeda! While we love his private SLP and he is making progress. He started with no words and now has up to 50 and just started putting 2 words together, plus used 4 syllables today...more+ ball + hammer!! although he only has about 15 clear words. I'm wondering how do I know if she is the best for my son? We've never had therapy from anyone else...should I try someone else?? > Thanx for your thhought, > > >
Guest guest
Every state has some kind of Early Intervention or Birth-3 program. Are your son getting services thru that also? How many times a week is the private? I know they told me when my 9yo daughter was in EI that progress can be slow, but your son is making progress. She comes to see my son 6 x's a month. I just wanted to make sure he was getting the right thearpy since I have no one to compare her to. Does anyone use more than one private SLP? I keep reading about prompt therapy and she doesn't use this...should she? Thanx
Guest guest
Hi, She hasn't used prompt therapy and I'm not sure about Talk Tools. The therapy is play based. She taps out syllables and she does work on clarity. It's hard to tell what she's doing since it is play based. How would I know if she was using motor planning techniques? How or what is a good/correct way to ask her what technique's she uses? I don't want to imply to her that I don't trust her ability's. My son loves when she comes and they both laugh a lot. I just want to make sure he's getting the right help. She is a MA CCC-SLP. Also, what is NutriiVeda??? My son is taking Speak Fish Oil. He's up to 4 capsules per day. Can I give him NutriiVeda too? Thanx for your help > > > Hello, > > My son is almost 27 mo and has been receiving speech lesson for his Apraxia since 20 mo. While we love his private SLP and he is making progress.
