Hi Nelia,

Does she just stare in to space and you can't snap he out of it? She could be

having staring seizures (absent seizures). You might want to talk with your dr

about a sleep deprived or a 24hr EEG to rule it out.

sudden at times she appears to not understand something. Trying to figure out if

it's a receptive language thing (but in this case I am sure she knows the word),

or a processing thing (for some reason the command isn't being processed?) or if

it's a motor planning or sensory thing. She used to zone out A LOT when she was

younger and the sensory stuff we did with her really woke her up. Does anyone

have any tips or ideas, especially those of you who's kids have processing or

motor planning issues? Just trying to figure out how best to help her.

Hi le,

Thanks for bringing this up. We've talked to her neurologist about seizures a

lot. She can be snapped out if it. It's more the " funk " that she can't be

snapped out of, not the zoning out, if that makes sense. We have had a 1 hour

EEG that was normal. I know that we really need to have a 24 hour EEG to get

accurate results, and we may do that in the future but for now our neuro doesn't

think she's having seizures. We're going to keep an eye on it. Thanks!
