Guest guest
Nelia thank you SO much for sharing this!!! Yes it's Sowmya's son who is autistic and apraxic who had the same results. What was interesting is that while Sowmya enjoyed the increase in speech -the hyper aspect was driving her crazy -so she took him off....and he regressed in speech. And being I know her I called her up and said " What are you doing? Why take him off -just decrease the dosage a bit " Also what we talked about...and thank you for bringing this up as she is in the same situation -doing many different things together...one supplement CAN affect another. This is why I say to try stopping the other things you are using when you start the nutriiveda. I too am not a scientist but know that sometimes one compound can neutralize another! Basic science! In fact the only three people out of the many I now know using it that the nutriiveda didn't work for in weight loss are people who are on antibiotics (in 2 of the cases) on a large amount of extra supplements I mean for weight loss my friend who trains with Mr. Florida (and talk about picky people in regards to protein powder or anything they put in their mouths -if any of you know body builders you know what I mean!!!) has MODEL friends who are 20 years old size 2 who wanted to lose a few pounds that did! My friend Bibi (who Lynn from this group met the other night has a thyroid problem and lost 15 pounds in a month -and she's continued to lose weight -and has lowered her thyroid medication! Now in regards to our children -many of us have our kids on fish oils -me too. I lowered Tanner's fish oil dosage in half and have not seen any regression -he's continued to surge. And I don't know if nutriiveda affects growth -but Tanner who I just posted it 5 foot 8 and a half 148 pounds -we just measured his height again today and he's grown ANOTHER inch and a quarter!!! He's now 5 foot 9 and 3/4 and 148 pounds -so not only as close as ever to normal in speech and facial expressions (and with facial expressions -first time EVER he had this!) but his weight is now normal too!! This morning I was actually talking to Dakota saying " do you want me to make pancakes for you? " and Tanner said " I don't think that's going to happen " So I said " Why? " and Tanner said " Why do you think? My nutriiveda " Even if I forget now (because I feel I can) Tanner reminds me. Speaking of which he's reminding me I have to take him to his friend's b'day party. I did copy Sowmya on here so she can answer too just in case she misses this. I asked Sowmya to be our resident ayurveda parent expert as she was raised in India and her grandmother was a healer and she uses all the ingredients in the nutriiveda in daily food...(and yet her son never surged until this -as I know now and Sowmya also taught me -ayurveda has to do with the synergistic blending which is what makes the ayurvedic medicine...5000 year old medicine helping with today's problems -how cool) =====
Guest guest
Whoops forgot to mention that when Sowmya went to the school the teacher asked what she was doing differently because her son was so " focused " and Sowmya said " today? " and the teacher said " the past 4 days " which is when he was on the nutriiveda hyper at home. So why hyper at home and focused at school? Also just like fish oils her son regressed off and surged again on (my son Tanner and Mel are the two others that regressed when taken off for various reasons -mainly due to it running out, sleep overs in my case -and by mistake in Mel's case...Sowmya was the only one that chose to take her son off due to the hyper behavior.) Sowmya now says she no longer views her son's actions as hyper...she said it's " almost like he's aware of what's around him for the first time and just wants to explore everything. " You know read (25 year old) Mel's blog -it clearly sounds like that for her as well. http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about I guess once again " food for thought " (or otherwise known as nutriiveda) Sowmya's I'm sure will answer -but copied her on here again JIC =====
Guest guest
I am 100% sure it is gluten and casein free not only from what's in the literature from the websites (from the Chopra Center as well) but also from my own mother who is extremely sensitive to any gluten, casein or lactose and is doing better than ever on the nutriiveda. If your child has a true milk allergy (allergic to the protein) which is rare then I was told should not take the nutriiveda as there will be a point zero something percentage of the protein in the product no matter how much they try to make it 100 % free. That is very sad for those rare parents that have children that are actually allergic to the protein -because as I know there is no other product I have ever found quite like this -it's remarkable. I would suggest you stop the product. Observe if the red bumps go away. Wait a few weeks and then start again and see if they come back. If they do -I'd go have him tested to see if he's allergic to milk protein. If he is you'll want to monitor and read labels for anything he eats -and not just look out for milk - chocolate too -eek! Hope it's not that! (from the Chopra Center website) Ayurveda identifies proper digestion as essential to overall health and a key component of any effective weight management product. Rather than just helping people lose pounds, Ayurveda aims to rid the body of excess fat and toxins, while promoting the transformation of unhealthy tissues into the foundational building blocks for vibrant health. Therefore, Ayurveda acknowledges that even seemingly " skinny " people can have suboptimal digestion and tissue formation, which is why the science focuses on transforming the entire body, rather than just losing weight. Guest guest
Yvette I just answered on this. It sounds from what you are saying like your son has a true milk protein allergy (not just lactose intolerant) and thus would not be able to use the nutriiveda. Unfortunately right now I know of nothing like the nutriiveda -hopefully we'll figure out what aspect of the product (amino acids, isolate protein, synergistic ayurvedic blend etc) seems to be working -right now we don't know. There is less than 1% -something like .0 or .00 something amount of the milk protein in the isolate whey protein - I was told as much as they tried to get rid of all it's currently not 100% possible -close but not enough for a true milk protein allergy -I wouldn't take the chance if you know that. Sorry! =====
Guest guest
Nelia I think that is an excellent idea! This way you will be able to note if there is any changes in vocalization once off nutriiveda (ie regression as reported in the 3 others that regressed off -one my son Tanner) The issue isn't always the supplementation of XY or Z -or adding more of Y or X -but the digestion/absorption. You are probably doing some sort of mega dosages with the B12 -but was that all her body needed? Perhaps either yes or no. It's good to note the dosages of nutrients that are in each product used. Here is the nutritional label for the Chocolate and Vanilla nutriiveda Chocolate http://www.up0.net/content/666799/Choco_NutritionFacts.pdf Vanilla http://www.up0.net/content/666799/Vanilla_NutritionFacts.pdf I personally find it interesting that there is so much science and so many traditional medical and ayurvedic medical doctors, including world renowned, best selling authors Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Simon, behind the formulation of nutriiveda- clinical science together with 5000 year old ancient healing and that right to start they research. I've seen this with the fish oils- they were always the last thing credited if you check the archives in the early days. The only way we'll learn as a group is for people to either by mistake or on purpose take their children off the nutriiveda. I did my part -twice (!!) - I'm not willing to do it again! Best of luck, =====
Guest guest
I have been on NV for 2 weeks now. I haven't lost any weight yet but my body looks different.my stomach is definitely slimmer and my hubby says my face is slimmer. i am starting to get hungry during the day unlike last week.So my caloric intake has increased. Hopefully the lbs will start to come off. My husband started to take it last week but had to stop b/c it gave him some bad GI issues. Very bad diarrhea, very jittery and his ears filled with fluid. He thinks he had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. We did start my 6 yr old son on NV today. i am starting very slow, just in case he has the same reaction as his dad. I gave him 1/3 a scoop this afternoon. ill probably give him 1/3 a scoop 2x/day for a few days then increase to 1/2 scoop and so on. danielle
Guest guest
le when you and I spoke this past Tuesday night you told me your husband had used up most of your stash and you were asking how quickly you could get more, even to have it overnighted -but mentioned nothing about him having any issues. How long had he been on the nutriiveda by Tuesday and how long after Tuesday night did he get his symptoms? Prior to me even starting the nutriiveda I showed the product to a tremendous amount of not just medical doctors, but nutrition experts including my friend who is an author that educates medical doctors about nutrition and is knowledgeable about every single ingredient in the nutriiveda. One of the things she loved most about the product is that it is " virtually " free of any ingredients one would be allergic to. Bowel issues could be a temporary side effect for nutriiveda since when you first start it the ingredients that help to naturally detox you can create constipation or diarrhea if you don't drink enough water...but fluid in the ears? Is it possible that your husband picked up a bug sometime after Tuesday? About the fluid in the ears- not sure how common that is to have fluid in the ears without the nose -was his nose stuffy? And I know I get jittery if I don't eat enough. How many times a day was he using it and was he eating with it (you're supposed to eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks a day and the nutriiveda could replace one or two meals) Here's a page from the NIH on allergic reactions http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000005.htm He would want to know if he is allergic to something in the nutriiveda because all the ingredients, outside of isolate protein, amino acids and nutrients, are normal food ingredients in India. The rest can be common in any high quality protein powder. Is he allergic to any foods? Is fluid in his ears a common allergic reaction for him when he does eat something he's allergic to? You'd probably also want to email your question direct to the Chopra Center at info@... since this would be a medical question and speak to his doctor. In the Chopra endorsed program guide it states Is it possible to consume too much of this product? There are no known side effects of this product, even at large doses. In general, however, we recommend limiting product consumption to 3 times a day, since optimal weight management will occur by also eating a healthy diet. http://www.up0.net/content/666799/NutriiVeda.pdf On the Q and A page I found this on side effects " Are there any possible side effects? Possible side effects may occur from the release of stored waste products into circulation during weight loss. These may include but are not limited to constipation, bloating/gas, thirst/dry mouth, irritability, loose stools, skin reactions, achy joints, headaches, lightheadedness, or nausea. If symptoms appear, decrease daily dose by 50 percent and drink more pure water. Symptoms should diminish significantly. Mild and uncomfortable symptoms should alleviate after 3–7 days. If any severe symptoms occur, discontinue taking the product and consult your medical professional. " http://www.zriiproduct.com/nutriiveda_productinfo.html At this point I know tons of families on this through my town and various towns around me due to word of mouth and most of us don't follow the program guide -but I do tell everyone to make sure they drink enough water....and it's working for everyone I know. The only side effect I've had reported 3 or 4 times now through friends or friends of friends I know is initial constipation in people who didn't drink water during the day when they first started- and once they drank the water that issue was gone- as again that's only when you first use it. Here's some people from the Zrii company website http://www.zriiproduct.com/nutriiveda_testimonials.html and here's some of my friends (including my neighbor the pro golfer, my son's orthodontist, my friend that is the fitness buff that trains with Mr. Florida) on the videos https://nutraeasy.com/8_reasons.html In this group the side effects reported have been mainly " hyper " and one parent said her daughter got red bumps- but that mom needs to find out if her child has a milk protein allergy as it's made from whey isolate protein and even though it's GFCF and virtually free of the protein -there is still .0 percent amount of the protein -and that would restrict one's diet far beyond nutriiveda. Your husband isn't allergic to milk protein is he? And then there is the coincidence reason. For example there was a man that died a few days after riding the Soarin' ride in Epcot...and of course they had to check out the ride to see if that was the cause- but it was ruled by the medical examiner's office to be from natural causes -perhaps Soarin' did cause it -but you'd think more people than one out of the tremendous amount that ride it would get strokes from it (it's such a beautiful ride -I'd hate to think it could be to blame!) So we can have doubts about what causes things but there are ways for your husband to check this out. If he stopped using it...waited a few weeks and then used a tiny bit of it and his ears filled up with fluid again you'd know nutriiveda was the cause of it. But of course I'd do this under the care of a doctor. Again if he's that allergic to some sort of food -you need to know for his future safety when he goes out to eat as the ingredients are all food based. And for sure report it to the Chopra Center because your husband would be reporting a side effect that is yet unknown to Dr. Chopra and Dr. Simon (which again is hard to believe) Let me know le what the Chopra Center says and how long your husband was on it prior to the fluid in his ears etc. And PS for you -as I just posted you may want to follow the program guide. Most of my friends and I did not and we all lost weight -but you may have to for some reason. From what I read some people will take longer but from what I have seen it's all pretty quick. http://www.up0.net/content/666799/NutriiVeda.pdf Good luck and keep us posted about your husband! =====
Guest guest
Sometimes " viral die-off " or high dosage of vitamin A causes red bumps. Is your child on any antifungals? Please check with your doctor to see if the ingredients in nutriiveda is not " clashing " with the other supplements you are giving. Ayurvedic ingredients as such are all natural herbs and do not trigger allergic reactions. When I increased the dosage from 1 scoop to 2 scoops for my son he was all over the place. AFter a week in 2 scoops I took him off of nutriiveda for 3 days. MAde sure his system got cleared[just gave him lots of water to drink]. And reintroduced it with 11/2 scopp. He settled down on it. The 3 days when I stopped it he was not babbling a whole lot as he had done on 2 scoops. this gave me the green flag to continue on the product. I always wait to see any kind of reaction from any supplement. Its an indication that the body understands that there is something " new " . For me it has been an yardstick to play the wait and see game. Two years back my son did not respond to MB12 shots, he was one of the few who did not do well with it at all!! We had to stop after the first phase of 5 weeks. Cod liver oil - he did not show any reactions it was as good as not giving it. Whereas EFA's and EPA's brought the best out of him!! NOw nutriiveda has brought little more babbling and awareness to the surrounding. Another huge change is he has stopped rading my pantry!!! My son craves to eat any crunchy stuff[chips, rice crackers, there are lots of Indian GFCF snacks which are crunchy]. But nutriiveda somehow makes him feel full. I give him at snack time with anything else he wants. He usually opts for an apple or pear these days!! Do keep us posted. Always start slow and build up to the child's dosage. sowmya > > I am 100% sure it is gluten and casein free not only from what's in the literature from the websites (from the Chopra Center as well) but also from my own mother who is extremely sensitive to any gluten, casein or lactose and is doing better than ever on the nutriiveda. Guest guest
le, you are so right. When you are on it the first thng you notice is that your stomach is definitely slimmer. I am one of the few who is losing weight a little slow[ i don't blame my body because of all the lbs I have accumualte in the last 4 years!!!] There was a few days in the middle when I started feeling more hungry and wanted to eat a lot. But stopped myself. I stuck to 3 snacks, one meal and lots of water. This stopped my cravings to eat more junk. Both my husband and myself also had the same issue of diarrhea - but only twice a day each time after two hours of taking the nutriiveda during the first 2 weeks. For me I take it as a good thing because my body is flushing out the bad stuff. I relate it to colon cleansing. Colon is the main organ that is responsible for cleaning the body of the toxic wastes. Whatever you eat ends up as toxins in your bowels. Over a period of time, these toxins build up. SO when you take a nutritious food, the body starts to function rapidly, trying to flush out all the toxins and restores the function of the organ. Enjoy your new you. sowmya > > I have been on NV for 2 weeks now. Guest guest
I don't have the money for Nutriiveda, but I do want to add that when I started my 32 month on fish oils, I noticed his energy level increased. He's probably hyperactive (it runs in my family and I'm not concerned about it at all) but it took about a week for me to adjust to his new levels of energy. We have to stay out of the sun b/c of a burn injury on his face and so keeping him productive instead of destructive is a challenge. He had a ped. visit three weeks after I started the supplements and I said that I had started the fish oil and it made a huge difference in his speech, but he was also even more hyper. She said that to her he seemed more focused and in control. (She is concerned that EI is not giving him any services for his speech, understood why fish oil would help, and in his first visit showed concern about his level of hyperactivity.) It's possible that Nutriiveda has the same affect on some kids as fish oil does on mine. It took me about a month to get used to his new energy levels, babble, use of words and imaginative play. Liralen > > Whoops forgot to mention that when Sowmya went to the school the teacher asked what she was doing differently because her son was so " focused " and Sowmya said " today? Guest guest
What's funny is a friend of mine who doesn't have any special needs kids was over my house and reading some of the messages about the hyper side effects and said " that's normal! " " OMG if my 3 year old wasn't running all over the place I would think he was sick or something! " I can tell you many of our children DON'T go through the terrible twos...at two anyway. They are compliant " good " children. That's not normal either -so when a child all of a sudden stamps their foot on the ground and crosses their arm and shouts NO! because he won't listen to you...that is a sign he is developmentally growing up. I mean when you read the following do you think these are about special needs two year olds? Nope - " normal " two year olds..here are clips from Google -but search anywhere and find anything different " As previously discussed, the Terrible Two’s are a natural part of child development and an absolutely normal stage of raising children. It is one of the hardest, challenging and upsetting stages parents and guardians go through especially for those experiencing it for the first time. There is the general disobedience, mood swings, the out and out defiance, selective hearing, and constant arguments over even the most basic requests. We also cannot forget the upset caused by seeing your beloved toddler hitting, scratching and biting others in vicious displays of terrible two’s behaviour and we have not even touched on the spectacle that is the TEMPER TANTRUM! " " Dealing with " the terrible two's " as a single mother is a very difficult and trying time. As rewarding as motherhood is, terrible two's is a trying time that I, the mother of the world's most hyper child, wasn't prepared for. My son is a sweet and loving child. Mostly when he is asleep but sometimes when he is sleepy or just waking up. I always stated, pre-pregnancy, that if I ever had a child, I wouldn't have a " brat " . Judging from the glares of people in stores and the constant " advice " I'm given in restaurants, I would say I was definitely successful in raising the " brat " I spoke against. I underestimated how hard it is to be a parent of a two year old. The temper tantrums are out of control and the solution is unknown to me. I've tried to punish my child, who is very stubborn and hardheaded, but unless I intend to punish my child constantly, I've decided some of the bad behaivor is simply the reason for the title " Terrible Two's " . My son is a very sweet and loving child. He is just hyper and stubborn and testing the limits set forth by not only myself, but his grandparents who are helping raise him. " May want to watch this doctor too http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Deal-with-the-Terrible-Twos-9698 So parents start their child on fish oil or now the nutriiveda and the child starts moving into this stage...and if you check the archives it's viewed as a " side effect " A side effect of being normal! I don't believe most are used to seeing these developmental changes so dramatically and suddenly -many cases in the first week - like we do with the fish oils and now with the nutriiveda. What's funny however is that if the nutriiveda (or fish oils) weren't " working " we wouldn't notice any behavioral changes -what we consider " good " or " bad " There would be no change at all. One hold out neighbor in my neighborhood who knows everyone else is on the nutriiveda has been carpooling my son Tanner to school -has seen all the changes and she says " Tanner looks good " but when I said anything about it she changed the subject so I dropped it. She called me up today not just about Tanner who she has noticed a difference in...but my other son -my 15 year old ADHD son Dakota. Apparently Dakota and her son were in conversation for about a half an hour and typically Dakota doesn't talk to her son much -he will talk for hours to a few of his friends and everyone else gets one word or sentence answers from him if you ask him a question. The reason she called me is because not only her but her SON noticed the changes first in Tanner (he told his mom how Tanner is more talkative, participating in school more, and all have noticed his increased sense of humor), and now in Dakota she said " I noticed he's more focused " Her son was diagnosed here in Florida with ADHD and aspergers (I don't see the aspergers)but he asked his mom if he could start taking the nutriiveda... so she's coming over later to pick up some chocolate nutriiveda. And on a side note for taste: Yes my family now LOVES it as is but if you are just starting it and your child or you don't love it (yet -you will trust me) I did get a tip from the mom of my son Dakota's 17 YO frind (he for sure had the ADHD before -is on meds and was bounced to various schools and is now " focused " straight A student since being on the nutriiveda -again I'm asking for a professional in this area to contact me as this needs to be explored -it's in a different way then Mel's story -an amazing story as well) that she uses 2 tsp of NesQuick for Josh with the 2 scoops of chocolate and just water and ice...and with the vanilla nutriiveda she uses 2 scoops, with again 2 tsp (not tablespoon) of NesQuick with a tsp of peanut butter with ice and water and she said " OMG I'm addicted to that it tastes exactly like a reeces peanut butter cup " I have my boys used to drinking the nutriiveda without anything but water at this point -but for those of you starting out...as I posted the other day if you want you can mix in a bit of the NesQuick and apparently it blends right in taste wise. =====
Guest guest
le your post about the fluid in the ear caught my eye. I have this same reaction when I eat protein bars. Thankfully I don't get the other symptoms. I narrowed it down to whey isolate protein. Your husband and I might be among the few to have this reaction. Guest guest
Sorry I missed this - Cassandra told me you posted this question already. (probably nobody else answered because they didn't know) I did call when I first started my son on it to ask this question and the answer I got back was that heat " shouldn't " affect it. Since I didn't hear " won't " and don't know for sure as I didn't try it for our kids -I would stick at first at least for the first week and you see it working -before going the hot chocolate route. My body builder bikini champ friend microwaves the nutriiveda with a certain amount of plain water for a couple of seconds to make a " brownie " and she says it's delicious. Not at all sweet enough for me. Like Gretchen I didn't care for it either when I first tried it..neither did Tanner. My husband thought we were nuts -he from the start thought it was delicious. We used to have to mix it with all kinds of stuff to make it taste good for us...now Tanner and I can drink it with plain water and we both LOVE it...the taste does grow on you...I probably would like that brownie now...but like I said don't want to take a chance with the heat -and besides if I want a brownie -I want a real brownie! Some of the suggestions I've gotten from Bonnie from our group are amazing. Her son only gets one scoop a day so she says she starts off with the scoop in the AM and throughout the day mixes it into all the things her son eats and she has to be creative because her son doesn't drink milk. So it's been mixed into ketchup, ranch dressing, honey mustard for his dips, sprinkled on top of his oreo cookie even! Guess the trick is since this whole thing is out of the box to keep it out of the box...but for sure I'd stick to start just sprinkled into and onto things that are not that hot -maybe....wait till the hot chocolate is luke warm then add it??? =====
