I would've never classified my son as hyperactive. VERY active and busy, but

not hyperactive. The first time we took him off fish oils we saw the same thing

as you describe below. He had an awful attitude, whiney, fits and even

hyperactive. However we also saw articulation regression as well.

Not sure why, but you are not alone! :) I kept wondering if it was the terrible

2s as well, at the time. We had him off for a full week and the regression

started around day 3ish. After we added the fish oils back in, he bounced right

back to normal in all areas within 3 days. This was all before we had added NV

to his diet so not sure if that would've affected regression/bounce-back time or

not?

Hang in there.

Madelyn an appointment with a new neuro sooner than we expected, so we stopped

giving her the capsules after only one week. We have not seen the regression we

were expecting, and she has kept all of her new words and is still talking a lot

more than before. She has not acquired anything new or made any progress this

week, however. But, her behavior the past few days has been awful! More

screaming, more easily frustrated, more tears and more tantrums. I don't know if

it is 2 year old stuff, or the oils, but I can't wait to get her back on them

next week.

I couldn't give my son the EFAs for two nights, and he started banging his head

a little and wanting to go outside to swing and slide and run ALL the time on

about the third day. I didn't see speech regression, but perhaps that would have

kicked in later. The behavioral differences are much more apparent to

" outsiders " than the speech. I'm embarrassed to say that my husband counts as an

" outsider " when it comes to noticing differences in speech, but he almost

immediately noticed that our son was calming down more quickly after an upset,

and not banging his head as much.

We're in the middle of getting some sort of diagnosis now from a behavioral ped,

so I can't tell you what they're going to call what we're dealing with, but I

suspect it's very similar to what most people on here are facing : sensory

issues and speech problems with more or less autism spectrum issues.

My son, Elijah, will be turning 4 next month. In the 2 years he has been on the

fish oils I have ran out a couple of times and both times were bad! Tantrums,

lack of attention...had difficulty focusing and staying still. Now he is a very

energetic boy all the time, but when he ran out it was to the extreme! I firmly

believe they do affect the behavior as well!
