Hi – Our son is ny (11.5 yrs) with Sotos syndrome. He is non-verbal and

autistic-like. The following is a list of what we have tried with him over the

years. Thought I'd share it with you. As of 2 years ago he does not attend

school but has speech therapy every morning from 8-12 (at home) and also has

swim lessons 4x week.

1.Early Intervention programs in CA

2. Glenn Doman home therapy program (Family Hope Center, PA) 3 years

3. Reading program

4. Dietary program (gluten-, sugar-, lactose-, soy-, free)

5. Homeopathy

6. Cranio-sacral therapy

7. Tomatis

8. Son-Rise

9. Communicating Partners (www.jamesdmacdonald.com)

10: horseback riding

11. biochemical therapy

12. acupuncture

13. private school mainstreamed with aide 1 year

14. private school for special needs children 1 year

15. home therapy with speech therapists 3-6 hours a day (since 2 years ago)

16. uses PECs for scheduling, but he points to words to express his needs

17. uses a Neo laptop and is learning to spell (very slow progress)

18. is learning to write (very slow progress)

19. swim lessons 4x week

While we are glad we tried the many programs, we can't say we saw a lot of

improvement, but then maybe he would be worse off had we not done all that! Who

knows. I continue to look for ways to help him improve.
