Guest guest
You should not allow a child to just drink nutriiveda and nothing else as it contains no fat and children need fat for their growing brains. Fortunately in our society today most " food " that the average person feeds their child is high in fat sodium and sugar (NV contains zero fat and sodium and only 2 grams of organic sugar per scoop) That being said =6 scoops for most tweens and teens is not too high according to many of the docs who have raised the dosage up on some of the older children. I'm one of the parents that have both my boys on 6 scoops a day each -and both eat food too. Why did I increase? I heard from others and then looked into it- and yes I did see more surges -but I didn't 'start' with 6 scoops, I started with 4 and saw surges with that as well. For 9 to 13 year olds you'd want to make sure your child is getting 45 to 135 grams of protein a day in a 1,900 calorie diet http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nutrition-for-kids/NU00606 and for those older than 13 it can be higher depending upon amount of activity etc. This will give you the minimum. http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/protein.asp (according to the above chart from the University of land both my boys should have a minimum over 125 grams a day...so my concern is that they are even getting enough!) ...as there are 10 grams of protein per scoop -4 scoops would be 40 grams and 6 scoops would be 60 grams. I do have dosages as well as other basic question and answers here http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html and I have some theories as to why NV is working here http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html Here are serving suggestions -because perhaps you need to start serving with food. http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html I can tell you both my boys eat less -but they still eat food. They no longer crave junk food -but will eat a reasonable amount of regular food. For example I'll use a pizza pie as it's split into 8 slices and pretty universal as an example: Prior to NV if we ordered a pizza Tanner or Dakota would have had at least 3 slices a piece. Now with NV they may have one or two slices and be satisfied with that. I'd say if you are just starting to start at 4...and then with your same doctor share the information I just wrote here. Yes there are doctors bringing older children up in dosage as NV is water soluble and 100 percent of the nutrients -including the protein are from whole food sources...but I wouldn't start at the highest dosage. I would like to know who told you to start at 6 scoops. Please read this as it covers why we so appreciate if you purchase from http://www.pursuitofresearch.org or one of our parents or professionals -this explains more http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=14809 Thanks so much -will be around to answer questions more after tomorrow - will get back to private emails to me sent to lisa@... or the phone calls to me 772 335 5135 then.
