Guest guest
I met some of my friends for breakfast today and one of them is from Africa and one of them is from Trinidad and somehow it came up about milk (no I didn't bring it up!) and Sylvia (from Africa) was saying that black people don't have the gene to digest the milk and most are lactose intolerant but drink milk anyway. Her husband is a medical doctor in the area and I know nothing about this missing gene (but I looked it up and found this one link http://genome.wellcome.ac.uk/doc_WTX038968.html ) Anyway the point being that both (from Trinidad) and Sylvia were talking about Oxtail soup and goat soup and sucking on the bones and how delicious these soups are. I know from Dr. Price's findings that is one of the ways to replace in a healthy way milk elimination so guess that's how it worked out in the countries that have more people that are lactose intolerant. I personally have no desire to make or eat oxtail or goat soup and suck on bones and do love the taste of sweet raw milk, ice cream and other dairy -cheeses etc. I'm just sending this out there because I know there are some that need to remove milk due to the rare milk allergy -but know in most cases it's more of a fad " treatment " which as I posted from the recent research due to the increase in milk elimination diets has been linked to short stature, obesity and weak brittle bones in growing children which is a concern of course. Thought I'd share because there are healthy ways to get the nutritional needs filled once you eliminate milk and dairy -and I guess oxtail soup and sucking on the bones is one of them -so it does give options to those of you that go this route with your growing child. " The oxtail stew is a treat for those who like that cartilaginous texture, a guilty pleasure as the only real way to enjoy it is to suck the bones. " http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/23/AR2006032300463.\ html " Yet it is possible to attain optimal health without dairy foods. Price discovered groups using no dairy foods that had complete resistance to dental decay and chronic disease; their diets invariably included other rich sources of animal fats, calcium and other minerals. The soft ends of long bones were commonly chewed, and the shafts and other bones were used in soups.
