Guest guest
Hi Vicky and welcome! Does have any other symptoms or diagnosis other than verbal apraxia? Most of the children with apraxia have some sort of " soft signs " such as mild low tone, motor planning deficit or sensory issue in the body as well. You want to know if these things are issues at all early on so you can secure appropriate Early Intervention through the state as well. Starting in a few months you'll already also be planning the IEP if needed which is for 3 and up. But for sure if she's at 25 months already saying 80 words and already doing 2 word sentences that's very cool and sounds like she either is already responding to whatever therapies traditional and nutritional you are doing -or isn't presenting very severe http://www.cherab.org/information/latetalkerhandout.html I also just sent this out the other day to another new member who has a 21 month old diagnosed with apraxia as well http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=7329 It just makes me so happy when I read messages like yours from new parents of little ones who are so on it seeking help. is SO fortunate!!!! Here's hoping that by the time she starts kindergarten everyone wonders if the apraxia diagnosis was a misdiagnosis and she's talking up a storm! Again welcome and let us know if you have other questions! Oh and PS..did you see the serving suggestion page? http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html =====
