Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the change or confusion but the flyer for Social Skills Class for

3-7 year olds is for Thursdays so it does not conflict with the bowling on

Wednesdays. Everything else stays the same for the other programs. Please

feel free to forward these on.

Our February Recreation Programs are listed below with the flyers attached

and feature the following programs:

.. Reading & Organizational Skills - Preparation for 5th grade students

transitioning to 6th grade -- Tuesdays & Thursdays - starts January 28th -

March 11th from 4:00pm-5:00pm

at the Lazar Middle School in Montville.

.. Bowling -- Wednesdays after school Boonton Lanes starting Feb 10th - April

7th from 4:30pm-5:30pm - ages 3-21

.. Social Games & Activities -- Thursdays starting February 11 - March 11th

from 5:00pm -6:00pm at the Pio Costa Auditorium in Montville - for ages 3-7

Please note the Reading & Organizational Skills class is a new one that is

designed to prepare 5th grade students more for the transition from grade

school to middle school. The class are done at the Lazar Middle School and

will work on organizing homework, classnotes, reading outlines, improving

literacy skills and much more.

The Social Games & Activities is also new and will focus on social skills

and training parents how to facilitate playdates at home

WHO: Ages 3 and above (parents or caregivers must accompany children if

needed)

WHAT: Kids will learn the rules and skills associated with the game of

bowling and have

fun socializing together with their mentors and siblings.

WHERE: Boonton Lanes - Rt. 202 and Fulton St. in Boonton, NJ

WHEN: Wednesdays, February 10, 17, 24, and March 3, 10, 17, 24, and April 7

NOTE: There will be no session on March 31 due to spring break

4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

FEE: $48.00 ($6 for each child per session for 2 games; shoes are included

in the fee)

Note: Registration for this program is through the Recreation Dept. BUT the

fee for the

games is paid directly to Boonton Lanes. When you come for the first bowling

session,

please bring a check in the amount of $48.00 **payable to Boonton Lanes.**

Reading and Organization

6th Grade Prep Class for Children With Special Needs

WHO: 5th grade students struggling with reading, comprehension, and

organizational skills.

(The student DOES NOT have to be classified as needing special education to

register.)

WHAT: This program is designed to assist 5th grade students who are

struggling with

reading or writing issues. The class will work on specific reading and

writing

strategies/skills, as well as study/organizational skills. The students

practice high

lighting, taking notes, and graphic organizers to prepare thoughts and

information

for written assignments, class presentations, or group discussions. All of

these

skills are critical in preparation for the transition into 6th grade at

Lazar Middle

School.

WHAT: This program is designed to teach social skills such as turn-taking,

eye contact,

conversation, small group play, life skills, and much more through taking

part in

and learning how to play with simple board games, circle, and playground

games.

The class will also provide opportunities for the parents to receive

training on how

to facilitate small group play dates and generalization of many of social

skills to

home and community environments.
