Guest guest
HI Judy: I'm not sure exactly what this is an acronym for. It sounds like similar meetings I have had with the State Depts. of Education and Health about services for Steve so he can succeed in school re: his 504. I doubt it is Canadian as Noelle is in NY. s Law has information on IDEA and 504 - legislation which protects our kids from discrimination and helps to level the playing field for them at school. It is imperative to understand these laws and how they are put into operation in the public school system when our children are classified IDEA or 504. Other moms who are advocates have helped me considerably with this. Good luck, take care, aloha, kathy (H) kathyh@... At 09:27 PM 06/01/2000 -0400, you wrote: > >What is a CSE? Is that Canadian? Guest guest
cse= committee for special education certain rules apply as to who must be part of the committee, but I believe these are different for each state-- NY requires child's teacher, or teachers if there are special services, a representative from the school, usually the principal, but not necessarily, a parent, a parent member (this is a parent of a special needs child who has supposedly had some training, and is supposedly there to represent parent viewpoint and help to understand) chairperson of special services and school psychologist. Guest guest
Hi - my son Yehonatan is 5 years old and has apraxia. Now that we are transitioning from CPSE to CSE we are having problems getting Yoni the needed therapy. To get more than twice a week for 30 minute sessions (not promised one on one either) speech therapy I would need to have research papers that show that children with apraxia regress without 5 times a week therapy which is what I would like to see Yoni continue to get. I know that on the weeks that my son does not have his regular sessions I do see regression - he so needs every minute of therapy possible. Has anyone had any experience trying to get their county to provide services our children NEED and than received them? Also does anyone know of research done that specifically show that children with apraxia need PROMPT? I feel at a loss and truly want to be my childs best advocate - Thank you so much for any information provided! Chavy
