Razel-

Is your speech therapist certified in prompt?  There are formalized tests I use

to officially diagnose apraxia.  Does she feel your child has characteristics

of apraxia or wants to formally diagnose him?  Lori

*any test to validate it? can you pls give me an idea how your child was

diagnose with apraxia? *

A) My daughter is in birth to three (early intervention) so I asked them to

have an SLP evaluate her.

B) I googled my state and apraxia and found a local parents group. I used

that to find out about SLP's in my state.

C) State's SLP said nothing was wrong and to wait until she was three. (Then

she would be out of b-3 and be the city's problem - they didnt say that, per

se) But, some SLP's feel you can not diagnose apraxia b4 three and therefore

should not treat, i guess.?!?!

D) I took my daughter to barontherapy.com to get evaluated. I was told she

was a textbook case of apraxia. I got a report to concur.

E)I put my daughter on NN fish oil, Multi, and www.carn-aware.com

E) My daughter was already in birth to three (early intervention) so I

googled " parent advocate " and I found a parent advocate group in my state. I

called them and they helped me understand my rights and what could happen.

They usually deal with 3+ though. BUT, they found a section IN THE BIRTH TO

THREE MANUAL ON APRAXIA. It says to treat with PROMPT or STEP.... Which

means they DO INDEED TREAT IT!!!!!

F)I put together a list of what *I* wanted for my daughter which was all

" age appropriate things that my daughter DOES NOT DO. (Using the CDC's list

as SLP's and the like will give this credence.

G)I met with B-3 and EI and told them what I want. That was today.

Now, I wait. HTH
