I've probably lived it. Yes, my mother-in-law and I had a rocky start. My mother-in-law and I are in many ways opposites. She grew up in a small town -- a town so small it doesn't have traffic lights. I grew up in a city. She's lived in the same place her entire life. I've moved around. Understandably, our perspectives differ greatly. At first, Maggie's old-fashioned perspective was a refreshing change from the hustle of the city. Tommy's mom is a great cook, making everything from scratch. And she pays such attention to detail! Snowman serving ware in the winter. Harvest wreaths in the fall. But it wasn't long before I noticed sour spots below the too-sugary exterior. What follows are just a few of the more lighthearted clashes we've had. One summer, I invited the in-laws to dinner: burgers and corn on the cob. Impossible to spoil, right? Not according to Maggie.
