Guest guest
Hello Caroline, I had a similar story, my son, 10 years is autistic and he started NV 2 months back, and he started biting, screaming, wetting trousers etc. At that time, we thought it is because I used to give it with Horlicks which has a high sugar content which made him hyperactive. After the advice from this group, I started again a month back, this time with NV on its own not with Horlicks. I started with very small portions and increased it in very very smaller quantities. But, sadly, his previous disruptive behaviour - biting, screaming again happened and I had to stop. In both occasions, he had some gains, but not as much as other parents describe here. (Sorry, I wanted to write in before, but couldn't manage to get time till now) It is really unfortunate that my boy does not have the same surges as other kids here, and it is a real pain in my heart not being able to see that. Anyway, atleast I tried it, and I would advocate anybody who has not tried it yet to do so, because God knows may be it'll work wonders in your child (as I've read over and over here). But I give him fish oils (2 proEFA and 1 proEPA), and he has good surges. Regards, bibi > > My friend and I both started NV 9 mts ago with our boys both affected by Autism. We both have seen nice sutle gains no wows but enough progress to want to continue NV. We both however had a regression at the 3 month stage (biting pinching screeching more distant) which took about 2 weks to recover from, now at 9 months both boys again are gone hyper and aggressive again.. We both feel last yr was a great yr in general for the boys (age 6) Has anyone else witnessed similar regressions with gains . Guest guest
I'm so sorry that he's having such a hard time. I just wanted to share my personal experience with NV. I started taking it when I gave it to my son, and I had a HORRIBLE detox reaction. I couldn't think, had headaches, backaches, was really out of my mind. I would go off NV and within 24 hours all the symptoms would resolve. Then I went back on and about 3 days later--BOOM--I was all weird again. After talking to and this lady at Zrii, I started on the lowest possible level. I think it was 1/8 scoop or 1 tsp. And I stayed on that 'dose' for 2 weeks. I still felt mild detox reactions, but they didn't overwhelm me. I learned also that I needed to drink WAY more water than the 50% recommended. I also needed a bit of electrolyte solution a day (I put a small chunk of pink sea salt in a cup each morning) After 2 weeks, I upped the amount to 1/4 scoop, waited 3 weeks before moving to 1/2 scoop. and so on. It took me over 3 months to get to 2 scoops. The way I could tell that I was ready to move up the dosage was that I started craving something and would eat, eat, eat and then drink a tiny bit more NV and finally be satisfied. I think a small percentage of the population does not handle the detox phase well. You can work through it, but it means going REALLY slow and being very patient. Start with a tiny amount and keep at it for a few weeks and then move up a tiny bit and stay there for a while. If you are seeing positive gains on a small amount, then stick with that until he levels off, then inch up the dosage. The nice thing is, you can always back off, and since NV is water soluble, in my experience, the symptoms resolve completely within 24-36 hours. I hope this helps Liralen > > > > My friend and I both started NV 9 mts ago with our boys both affected by Autism. Guest guest
I just wanted to add something to Liralen's wise advice... First off from this group I know of only TWO adults (both moms) who went through this detox -Liralen and Cheryl...and so far no children that we know of. So to have a dramatic detox reaction to any food is pretty rare. And second and I believe most important is just because Liralen and Cheryl initially went through more severe detox reactions (research whey isolate protein detox if you don't know what I mean and you'll see it's noted) it does NOT mean that the child or children will go through it. Again I know of no children that have. I can understand why one wouldn't want to keep a child on something where it made them hit and bite etc. But not knowing the full situation, amount of product, amount of hydration, all we can do is just file this under one child who's parent pulled him off due to the behavior being beyond what parents can tolerate. Would Liralen's way of very gradually working up help? I don't know but I'd suspect so. I can tell you if you check the archives that in all the years of fish oils and noted initial temporary bad behavior only one parent pulled her son off. So like NV- pretty rare with fish oils for this stage to be one that is that intense. Very quickly to answer the subject questions of any stage regressions with NV...not that I know of but I do know that when there are surges in a new area it's not uncommon for there to be a regression in another. (ask your child's therapist) I may have read the initial question wrong but if two children are having the same surges and then behaviors at the same time however -that sounds more like situational rather than internal...but wouldn't know. I will share about one parent who lives by me who is friends with Romesa from our group. Robin's son has severe autism and behavior and anger issues so severe that prior to NV they didn't know if this 9 year old could even remain in the school he was in -and there was talk about institutions. The parents were beside themselves. I met the mom at a Walmart and sold her a canister of NV for her to try and within 24 hours as I shared here her son had a complete change noted at his summer program. No tantrums, meltdowns, fights, and he for the first time even made a new friend that day and on the way home said to his mother " I didn't feel angry today " (child has normal expressive ability) The rest of the week on NV went just as wonderful so of course both mom and dad looked at this as a coincidence and when they ran out of NV- they let it run out. I mean, it's possible (even though not probable especially considering the amount of reports now) that the exact week these parents gave their 9 year old autistic son NV...he would have had this complete turnaround in behavior and anger anyway....but nope -he regressed and they had the " week from " you know where the mom told me. The 9 year old is back on -the parents are believers and sharing it with other children with autism who are also responding -and best of all the school is sending home this child with gold stars. He for the first time is liking school. One story the mom shared is that typically her son would completely lose it if even one drop of rain hit him -and she was running a bit late to school to pick him up and it was raining. He got in the car and said " I noticed all the other kids were in the rain too and none of them got upset so I didn't get upset either " She said " Who are you and what did you do with my son?! " And also on the way to school he puts the heat on (we live in Florida) so the mom was sweating. When they pulled up at the school the mom felt like someone was blowing ice cubes at her- it was because her autistic son realized that she was hot and he turned the air all the way down for her before he got out of the car. But did he regress? Hmmm -well it's been about 2 and a half months and he's not having any issues at school -but he's starting to get very bad behaviors at home in regards to either her or her husband helping him with his homework. We spoke and I suggested she find a tutor to work with him on his homework instead of her or her husband -and that's what she is going to do. And back to Liralen; again her son just like Cheryl's son surged from almost day one -in spite of the fact that their moms had more of a detox reaction which is worth saying again =appears to be pretty rare...but can be overcome if done the way Liralen and Cheryl did -very slowly. Oh and just one other thing....if one is that toxic or sensitive to detox...the only other option is to what? Leave all the toxins in the body...and then what years from now?!!! So yes -you can stop or really look at what NV is doing for us and our children and speak about it with experts who know about nutrition and wellness. -here is just a bit of Liralen's testimony for NV for her child from archives: NV update My son has been on NV for a few months now...but he's been taking the full dosage for only about a month. I thought it might be fun for all of us to give an update on our kids that have been on NV for several months. I'll start. Before NV my 36 mo old son had language, but he was largely unintelligible. He was not potty trained, woke up 3-5 times a night, would often trip when he ran, didn't sing, dance, was just learning to jump. Within the first month, he started sleeping through the night, potty trained, started singing and dancing and began playing imaginatively. He also gained two lbs in 3 weeks (much needed as he's in the 10th %) Within the next few months, he has made up songs, remembers 2-3 lines from movies he's just seen, has started jumping over things, gained another pound, dances with more coordination, has started making his toys talk to each other (or makes me be one toy and talk to the other toy), had developed a taste for water and prefers it to all other drinks. Things we are still working towards. pedaling his trike, getting him to use words instead of hitting in moments of frustration, talking more to his peers, eating a wider variety of food and food textures. What have you seen with your child in the last few months? Liralen Re: Increased hyperactivity with Nutriveda I personally had a very heavy detox reaction to NV when I took it. I was in so much pain, disoriented, couldn't focus. It took a few trials and error to figure out how to make this work for me. So here is what I had to do. 1. drink 60%-75% of my body weight in water...this is not counting coffee, tea, or juices or fluids hidden in food. 2. put a piece of pink Himalayan sea salt in my first 27 oz of water (I drink from a 27 oz Klean Kanteen)(this helps with electrolyte balance) 3. start VERY low and VERY slowly inch up the dosage. I started with 1/8 a scoop. After 2 weeks I upped it to 1/4 a scoop (1 1/2 tsp) After 3 weeks I upped it again to 1/2 a scoop. then 2 weeks later 1 scoop and so on. One scoop is 2 Tbsp, so 6 tsp. The most I can take is 2 scoops. If I get more, I can't keep hydrated enough. I could tell that it was time to up the amount I took b/c I could no longer feel the NV in my system and I would start to have weird cravings for food and keep eating beyond being full. Now since I got up to 2 scoops, I have stopped for a week or so and started back up and have not had to inch up the same. I would start with 1 scoop and be up to 2 scoops within 2 weeks. I do need to lose weight and I did lose 15 lbs (still have more than 30 to go) and then got stuck. But I did notice that my body slimmed more than the poundage warranted--it's as if I was swollen and that has disappeared. as far as hiding it in food. If you give him 1/8 or 1/4 a scoop you can put it in a syringe and take it like medicine. use 1/2 the amount of water as powder and it makes a pudding like consistency, or just spoon it in his mouth. or you can put in in syrup on top of pancakes, mix it in spaghetti sauce. The goal is not to use so much that it changes the taste or texture. There also is a recipe for peanut butter no bake cookies that is pretty good. Liralen My son was 26 lbs when I started him on NV and gained 2 lbs in three weeks (which he had gained 2 lb the ENTIRE year before that) and then has gained one more pound in the next three weeks. He's been holding steady for about 6 weeks now. I can tell you from personal experience that NV flushes completely out of your system at roughly the 24 hour mark.
