Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am relatively new here. I posted last week about my 22 month old son who has been diagnosed with language delay with possible oral motor disorder. Our SLP is currently using the Kauffman method with our son. He is very responsive and will attempt to mimic almost any single word. About 2 months ago he wouldn't even mimic. And now he is finally saying mama...to everyone. When he was younger he definitely had feeding problems. No weight gain from 2-6 months of age. Dropped from being 9lb6oz newborn to falling off the bottom of the weight chart by 12 months. He was probably 8-9 months old before he could eat baby food with out gagging. He has mostly overcome his feeding issues though he is very picky and avoids certain textures. From what I have read on here he may need oral motor therapy also. Do I need to be looking for him to receive other types of therapy? I feel that relatively speaking he is doing well....he has several spontaneous words that he uses regularly. Thanks,
