When I asked here about her about having my little boy see her twice a week, she told me that the PROMPT institute reccommends once a week? I found this statement a little odd, as I know many of you have several sessions a week. We are having one 45min session a week, and this will be changing to an hour a little down the track, when my boy has become more comfortable with the 'idea' of therapy. What are your opinions on this. I am considering taking him also to a second therapist for oral motor therapy. Would this help, being that I will probably only be doing one PROMPT session a week - my boy is 24mths old. > > Hi Dana! My son has slowly stepped up from 1 day per week to 4 days per week, and I can tell you the difference is night and day. We hired our SLP once he aged out from EI services at 3 for 2 days per week. Ask what their cash price is....it's normally cheaper than the insurance costs (ins for ours was $75 per 30 minutes, and cash is $50) Also, look into your local school system. They age in after 3, and in my experience, offered similar services to what EI had given him. Finally, check into Easter Seals, ish Rites, and local universities offering SLP degrees. They help by doing a sliding fee scale. Good luck! > > > > >
