I did not recommend that the patient go off their insulin. however, I Rxed this product for patients who had been injured and seen their glucose levels rise dramatically. It appears to help normalize blood sugar. These were adult onset diabetics. Or patients who had never been dxed with diabetes and suddenly after a physical injury, they are diabetic. Anyhow, within 2-3 weeks, their blood glucose levels were normal or very much improved. Outcome ranged from being able to reduce their by mouth diabetic meds to stopping all meds. entirely and controlling their condition with diet and exercise. Pretty interesting. I'll watch for other posts and see what other docs have found. Minga Guerrero DC HoodView Chiropractic (503) 669-1966
Guest guest
Gymnema Sylvestre is one of the ayurvedic herbs used in the nutriiveda. When i did a detailed description on all the ayurvedic ingredients I skipped this one since I was not familiar with the name. I called my dad to ask about Gymnema sylvestre. We are not experts in ayurvedic medicine but have know some because my grandma used to use lots of herbs for various home treatments. He told me that this herb has been used in ayurvedic medicine in India for thousands of years to treat many conditions but used mainly today to treat mild to high diabetes. It has wonderful properties. His niece and nephew[my cousins] both in late fifties use it regularly once a day. They take 1 tsp of Gymnema in luke warm water in empty stomach in the morning. My aunt[ my father's sister] is a chronic diabetic patient. She has been taking this twice a day for the last one year. Two months back her doctor had reduced her insulin dosage to half because her sugar levels had come down. Details about Gymnema Sylvestre: Gymnema Sylvestre is a plant which is native to southern and central India. The Hindu word " gumar, " which means " sugar destroyer, " describes the primary use of the herb in traditional Indian medicine. The gymnema root has also been used to treat snake bites, constipation, water retention, circulatory disorders, cough, diabetes, anemia, hyperglycemia, high cholesterol levels, fever, kidney & bladder infections, liver disorders, malaria, swollen glands, liver disease, stomach disorders, and digestion. Gymnemic Acids have antidiabetic, anti-sweetener and anti- inflammatory properties. The herb has been found to reduce the sugar levels when used for an extended period of time. Gymnema reduces the taste of sugar when placed in the mouth. The active ingredient in the Gymnema is gurmeric acid which has a chemical structure similar to saccharose. Here is the link to an article about Gymnema Sylvestre which reports about a study done by a Kings' College, London , UK. http://www.livestrong.com/article/27494-gymnema-sylvestre-control-blood-sugar/ ================== Coming back to linking to our kids-nutriiveda-gymenma sylvestre : At first the name Gymnema Sylvestre was unknown to me. I did not recognize it. But when my dad said that I know it as " Sirukurinchaan " , then I remembered my grandfather used to take it. Both in Chinese medicine and in Indian medicine the biggest inhibitor to voice is said to be refined sugar. Even in the biomed treatments sugar is a big cause for increase in clostridia. Clostridia inhibits speech!!! So the amount of gymnema sylvestre along with cinnamon plays a key role in controlling the sugar levels!!! This is indirectly bringing out all the babbling , clearer speech etc. As I have reported my son has increased in babbling and seems more aware of all that is around him since on the nutriiveda. His teacher has reported more focus. We have tried biomedical approaches prior to this for him. Please email me with any questions. I take nutriiveda too, and I love sweets/desserts/chocolate [my biggest cause for putting on pounds]. After drinking nutriiveda, I do not crave for sugar/chocolate etc. Its so fascinating when you put things together Just my two cents. Guest guest
It is a common belief that most of the " developmentally delayed kids " have some amount of gut issues. The biggest belief in the biomed world is the existence of Candida yeast. Candida albicans belongs to the yeast family and is a single- cell fungus. When someone has overgrowth of Candida yeast, the type of food they eat is crucial to the recovery process. Although Candida yeast can affect any part of the body, it originates in the gastrointestinal tract. Yeast organisms live in the gut and they survive by converting sugars into the energy they need to live. Controlling the diet is one of the chief means of reducing their ability to thrive. Since Candia's primary source of food is sugar, that is the most important food that must be removed from the diet. The more refined sugar or sugary foods that the kids eat the more fuel you provide for the " fungus " . Eating these sugars is like providing Candida yeast with an intravenous source of it's favorite food and it will grow like a wild weed out of control. A decrease in Candida yeast decreases hyperactivity and self-stimulatory, stereotyped behavior and increases in eye contact, vocalization, and concentration. Gymnema Sylvestre helps the pancreas to work efficiently which increases the release of insulin which helps to break-down sugar. This would surely help to reduce the Candida yeast and improve vocalization and concentration. sowmya > > >
