Guest guest
I understand what your doc is saying in that the nutriiveda is a " one size fits all and ayurveda isn't " and that's one of the first basics I read about ayurveda ....but perhaps what your doc doesn't know (Dr. Chopra and Dr. Simon educate traditional and alternative medical doctors on ayurveda http://www.chopra.com/ayurveda ) is that the nutriiveda's primary purpose is to get rid of ama (toxins) and nourish the body as according to the doctors from the Chopra Center most of us in the West, even if overweight, are undernourished and full of ama. Here's info on ama for people that don't know what ama is. http://www.chopra.com/panchakarma I mean think about it -all the processed and genetically altered and fast foods. A world here where drive through taco bell diets are written up as a " for real " diet in the New York Times where you have to stop and say " is this a joke " (no for real) Where the soil is overused and full of " ama " itself. What nutrients are we missing daily even when we try to eat healthy and organic? Why do we feel the need to overload our body with this vitamin or that with little of no change when perhaps what we need isn't more of one thing but a particular " balance " of nutrients. To me that is what nutriiveda is. Simple nutrition. Poor nutriiveda -like the fish oils so over analyzed and healthy while we think nothing of adding NesQuick to the nutriiveda (may want to read this funny observation http://thedelicioustruth.blogspot.com/2009/04/nesquik-chocolate-syrup-ingredient\ s.html ) I've shared nutriiveda with so many experts that I'm both friends with and found online that I have no doubt about how incredible the product is (and that's even the Dr. Chopra and Dr. Simon formulation and endorsement aside) But as far as the " concern " We don't know what aspect of the product is working. In fact we don't for sure know if it's the ayurvedic synergistic blend or the essential amino acids or what compound or blend of compounds that are working. I suspect it does have to do with a mixture. Me and many of my friends- anyone healthy for that matter -have been on protein powders for breakfast for years -nutriiveda blows them all away. I don't know what's different in it -but it's almost magical the impact it's had on my family and so many others I know now. Based on what I've seen the product itself is not contraindicated in ingredients and if it is -then we all should have used contraindicated products long ago!!! Drats those uncontraindicated products! Seriously I have suggested to parents and professionals who are on a truckload of other supplements to perhaps take a break for a week (outside of fish oils or say things that are medical necessary for those diagnosed with carnitine deficiency for example) and just 'try' the nutriiveda as many of us see results within the first few days. My husband and I both just spoke to professionals at Tanner's school today who are still amazed with the many positive differences in Tanner academically and otherwise. The one professional pointed out " he just looks happier every time I see him now too " And I pointed out " that's because he now has facial expressions. " That's HUGE! And of course all of a sudden the constant reading- he just arranged a homework get together with 2 other friend tomorrow (no not kidding -he called everyone up) Here's some info on just some of the more well known docs behind the product (some of the others are also well known ayurvedic medical doctors) DEEPAK CHOPRA, M.D. Co-founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing Deepak Chopra is a world-renowned authority in the field of mind-body healing, a best-selling author, and the founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing. Guest guest
You doctor is right about Ayurveda medicine that it would depend on the " dosha type " to address a specific disease. He may not understand what the nutriiveda is as an ayurvedic product however. If one's body is undernourished or full of " ama " [toxins] it would not be ready to accept the healing stage which could be from the body alone, or combined as a second step with ayurvedic medicine and/or Western medicine. The nutriiveda is a most important base coat that combines ayurveda and modern clinical science to address the prevalence in our world of malnourishment and toxins. To nourish and detox the body is an important first step for any of the doshas for most effective healing and health as those knowledgeable in medicine would be aware. The nutriiveda supports and strengthens the metabolic functioning and the fact, I and others are seeing positive changes in our children after providing them with nutriiveda strongly points to the metabolic aspect being the most probable root of the problem. As many of us in this group are already aware this is not a new concept and has been either confirmed or a suspicion for already. Nutriiveda has a unique and specific combination of ayurvedic botanicals which has been blended in a combination with all the essential amino acids, isolate protein, all the important vitamins and minerals to make it the most effective by the metabolic system. The synergistic blend of the ayurvedic botanicals are much more powerful than taking any one of the ingredients alone, however the ayurvedic botanicals can be delicate. There are special ways of combining the ayurvedic botanicals to make sure the botanical's healthful properties and effectiveness are not lost and are accentuated. Expert combinations like the nutriiveda include botanicals that increase assimilation and effective potency of the other ingredients. Good formulas address all co-factors to a health goal for much greater effectiveness. So my feeling again is since this was being formed for weight management, to support the metabolic functioning " for anyone " and all factors were considered, so a safe and nutrient dense formulation was formed in a manner that it would help all the doshas. I do not believe the nutriiveda was meant to address autism, ADHD, apraxia, TBI, global delays and everything else it's reported to be helping. Again it must be if it's helping then the basis of the problem lie in the metabolic system. I am sure that the doctors behind the formulation are surprised themselves from the anecdotal feedback from this group about nutriiveda helping so many of the children of all ages including taking it!!! For those that want to explore more into ayurvedic medicine to help address say heart or liver disease as a next step which is what your doctor is speaking of, here is more information: A person's chances of developing certain types of diseases are thought to be related to the way doshas are balanced, the state of the physical body, and mental or lifestyle factors. Ayurvedic medicine holds the following beliefs about the three doshas: · Each dosha is made up of two of five basic elements: ether (the upper regions of space), air, fire, water, and earth. · Each dosha has a particular relationship to bodily functions and can be upset for different reasons. · Each person has a unique combination of the three doshas, although one dosha is usually prominent. Doshas are constantly being formed and reformed by food, activity, and bodily processes. · Each dosha has its own physical and psychological characteristics. · An imbalance of a dosha will produce symptoms that are unique to that dosha. Imbalances may be caused by a person's age, unhealthy lifestyle, or diet; too much or too little mental and physical exertion; the seasons; or inadequate protection from the weather, chemicals, or germs. sowmya > > My family doc is a doc who practices both traditional western medicine and complementary medicine, specifically the teachings and methodologies of Dr. Weil. I brought him the info on Nutriveda yesterday and asked his opinion. His concern is that he feels > Ayurvedic medicine is not a " one size fits all " kind of thing and it really depends on your dosha-type... meaning that some of the ingredients could be contraindicated. I have sent the info to my kids' pediatrician (who works with our family doc) and to their neurologist. In addition, I have just put several books on Ayurvedic medicine on hold at our library. I want to know more before trying the product. I am really interested in the positive things going on with some of our kids... but what works for one, doesn't always work for another. Fish oil (Pro-EFA) has done nothing for my kiddos, but we still take it because it is a good thing! Just didn't provide the speaking results we were hoping for! We have a bunch of diagnostics scheduled this coming week... looking into absorbption issues as a root cause (fecal matter has never formed on either kiddo) >
