Guest guest
Hello! I wanted to thank everyone for their feedback for my daughter in the different types of therapies. We met with the Dept of Dev Disabilities today and they suggested we apply for long term care for her, to try and meet her true therapy needs. However, I have been told (from others, not directly from them) it is extremely difficult to qualify for this and they don't see lack of speech as a serious issue (at least not until they are much older) nor do they recognize Apraxia. My daughter is receiving ST, OT and has a Dev Specialist right now, but if anyone has any articles or information about the LONG TERM ramifications of Apraxia and all the different ways it can effect a child, esp that will not go away on their own, could you please let me know? School issues, Safety and Social--along w/poss physical, are very important parts from what I understand. I want them to understand the full and long term issues of Apraxia as best as possible. Thank you!! Dana
