Guest guest
Smoking Leads to ADHD and Stuttering, Says Study According to a new US-based study, children who do tobacco smoking in their homes are more likely to suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and stuttering. In the study, it was found that such children were two times more susceptible to ADHD and stammering. For the study, children between the age group of 4 and 15 from smoking and non-smoking families were taken. The researchers also mentioned that rate of headache was also much high in children with tobacco smoking as compared to those, who came from non-smoking families. Experts said that children who were exposed to tobacco smoke were at high risk of physical and mental problems, which in turn can hamper the cognitive and social development. As per the new guidelines, the cigarette packets will no longer be flashy and colorful, as plain packets with graphic warnings will replace the former. Youngsters believe that smoking ‘won't look cool anymore’. The researchers conducted a separate study and interviewed as many as 80 students between the age group of 14 and 16. Some children were non-smokers and some had tried smoking. It was found that removing the eye-catching logos and flashy colors impelled majority of teenagers to mainly focus on the warning label and many also questioned the ‘purpose’ of smoking.
