Guest guest
picky eaters and this group is par for the course it seems!! Have you seen some of the ideas here? http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html You shouldn't cook with NV as you can compromise the delicate essential amino acids -and don't want to do that!! What about the recipe Liralen came up with for vanilla NV butter here? http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html Or mix the vanilla into the syrup- but again don't cook them in the pancakes. Some parents have tried putting it in icing as well. What about frozen pops -like a dreamsicle? It's all a matter of taste but in general based on the news that 40 percent of calories most kids in the US eat are from junk food and that less than 26 percent of any age in the US eat enough fruits and veggies...it's no shock that something that is all natural, GFCF, fat, sodium, caffeine free with only 2 grams of organic sugar per scoop wouldn't taste good to most to start. I mean we live in a candy corn world!!! What is candy corn anyway but a beautiful looking magic triangle you only see this time of the year and goodness knows it's probably 100 percent synthetic- may as well be made of plastic and glue! I can tell you for a fact that once you or your child take NV for a few days- maybe a week...you WILL start to crave it. And your body will thank you big time. I haven't shared this yet because I want to get the exact amounts -but my 16 year old skinny son Dakota...in just a few months on NV he grew from 5 foot 9 inches to 5 foot 10 and 3/4 inches (so grew almost 2 inches) and gained about 15 pounds. This is while my 14 year old lost about the same amount of weight my older one gained (he needed to) and grew from 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 11 and a half. My younger son is more consistent -my older son will actually refuse to drink it at times. Their pediatrician is a huge believer- do you know what he said? " you just think he's not going to drink it by himself but you watch...he's going to go off to college and the work load will be tough and he's going to know he needs to drink this so that he can work better at school " He always knows the right thing to say because since then Dakota hasn't been so resistant. He does like to say " I don't need it " (where my husband will bark back " You do need it, you clearly need it and you WILL drink it " ) Dakota was always brilliant but with his ADHD he was a bit absent minded -his grades and the reports from his teachers are now reflecting the brilliance he's always had! I just LOVE this stuff. So bottom line -girl you have got to figure out a way to get it in. And picky? The first time my then 15 year old son drank NV he threw it up! Dakota's classic picky eater and we have had to work on ways to get all kinds of foods into him that he needs to eat over the years- and yes he doesn't just refuse to eat them -he throws them up. Not so much now that he's older but when younger -put it this way -waited to get that new couch! But we can't let kids control what they want to eat -if we did my son Dakota would be very sickly for sure. And this is why his pediatrician and us are thrilled by his weight and height gain -NV clearly is providing even more to his body than just helping him with focus for his ADHD. It's providing essential nutrients. Not only is Dakota more social in general with outside the circle of just a few of his friends -but many people have commented on how much happier and talkative, friendly Dakota is " recently " (translate -since NV) He was that typical teenage moody- not nasty or mean, but just not talkative -kind of withdrawn a bit prior to NV. Now he's got plans to be a Disney Imagineer and he is working towards that goal! If I talk lots about NV and the importance of it -it's because even now after my family using it for about a year (well Dakota no where that long yet -but Tanner yes) I'm still seeing surges that blow my mind! I want to go up on my roof and shout to everyone to try this stuff -and I have medical and speech professionals that would agree. Just the average American wouldn't -or doesn't understand....but again read this to understand why http://www.themoneytimes.com/featured/20101004/study-finds-us-children-get-40-th\ eir-calories-junk-food-id-10130575.html Anyway -just had to bring up Dakota because I read about picky eaters all the time and typically don't bring him up because his way of dealing with it is pretty gross -but come on! If I can get Dakota to drink it- surely others can too. And...by the way- Dakota does NOT like NV with milk either. He only likes it with water- that's it. Maybe with a splash of chocolate almond milk -but basically just water. Maybe try that?!! =====
Guest guest
Hi kristin, My son is similar--very picky and prefers fruit to most other things. We started NV last week and have had no problems getting my son to take it so far. We mix it with fresh or frozen pureed mango along with a touch of a milk like substance (ice cream or almond milk) and some water to thin it a bit. We serve it with a fun thick straw and he gulps it down. Good luck! I'm having great difficulty getting the product into her because she really only likes to eat whole foods (pancakes, muffins, cheese, fruit, etc..). She doesn't drink milk or any fruit juice, doesn't like applesauce, or puddings. She's not of fan of any baked chocolate items, although she likes pure chocolate. We did try to bake the vanilla NV in pancakes, but she didn't eat them. I personally tried the vanilla NV product in milk and didn't care for the taste, and I found it difficult to dissolve by just stirring. I'm assuming using a blender would produce better results. Does anyone have ideas or recipes to get NV into a VERY picky eater, whose taste buds are extremely sensitive? Thanks so much, Carpenter
Guest guest
I just had success for the first time today! I had tried it in blueberry flavor YoBaby Yogurt, but no luck. Today I put it in banana flavor, and it worked! I hope it keeps working. Best of luck to you, > > Hello all, > > I ordered NV for our daughter who is dyspraxic, and has sensory integration > problems (especially with sound and food textures). Guest guest
We put in in almond milk and add Xylitol sweetener (from Whole Foods) which does no harm, and put it in a little blender and blend the heck out of it. That helped a lot because my daughter wouldn't drink it in water or milk. FYI, I haven't written much, but I think this product is amazing -- my child looks and is healthier than ever (fourth week of school and no colds in the house yet???), and she is making above-expected gains in all areas. This morning I walked in a room and saw her navigating an exe-rider around a table with ease -- if you knew my daughter -- you'd know why my mouth was hanging open.
