Guest guest
I am thinking of trying the Nutriiveda for my son, but I have a couple of questions. He is 4 1/2 years old, and began taking the NN 3-6-9 in October (1/2 tsp/dy). He now takes the NN 3-6-9 1/2 tsp/dy, NN ProEPA 1 capsule, 400mg of Vitamin e, and his Flinstone complete. We didn't tell his teachers or SLP we were starting him on the Omega's, and all reported he had the best quarter yet. He was more attentive and attempting more words and multi-word combos. My question is this.....should we wait for the fish oils to plateau, or go ahead and add the Nutriiveda to the mix? I only ask since he's been on the fish oils such a short time in comparison to others in the group. Thanks for the help! _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Free, trusted and rich email service. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/196390708/direct/01/
Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am encouraged by parent's experiences with Nutriiveda, but I hope parents proceed with caution, especially in young children. This is a product formulated for adults, and while the aryuvedic combination may not be harmful, it has alot of additional vitamins and protein included in the mix. I am thinking about the Vit. E that is in Nutriiveda for example. Since many parents on this forum already supplement with Vitamin E, your child would get additional Vitamin E supplementation in the Nutriiveda - 2 scoops has 100% of the Adult RDA of Vitamin E. While Vitamin E Toxicity is rare, here is some information about too much Vit. E: ********************************************************************** Symptoms of Vitamin E Toxicity There are some signs to look for which might indicate that you are suffering from toxicity related to taking too much vitamin E. Some of these signs include: •Muscle weakness •Nausea •Fatigue •Dizziness •Diarrhea •Risk of bleeding Vitamin E toxicity is very rare in humans. As vitamin supplements become more pervasive in developed countries, the risk increases because often people take more supplements than their bodies need. The pervasive availability of vitamin supplements in developed nations adds to the risk for taking an unnecessarily high dose of vitamin E. Many adults take vitamin E supplements without any incident. 400 to 800 milligrams per day usually can be taken without any harm. Occasionally, some minor symptoms of vitamin E toxicity may develop. Bleeding risk is the major risk of vitamin E toxicity, yet this usually does not occur unless individuals are taking anti-coagulant medications, or daily doses of vitamin E in excess of 1000 milligrams. ********************************************************************* Just keep this in mind and consider the vitamin supplementation that is also in Nutriiveda when making your decision. As previously said, we all have to do what we feel is best for our children. I am considering this product for my 7 year old, but she is big for her age at 4 feet 5 1/2 inches and 90 pounds. Also, I am not doing it until I talk to a physician and a homeopathic doctor who are friends of a friend of mine who are based in India and very familiar with aryuvidic medicine. There are also large amounts of protein in it as well - 20g of protein isolate for 2 scoops - read below from a health website (nutritionists from Stanford University) - this has been a criticism of the Atkins Diet, which is high in protein: ********************************************************************* Too Much Protein So think twice when you consider sacrificing the carbohydrates for a protein-dominant diet, Butterfield says. Drastically cutting carbohydrates from your diet may force your body to fight back. She says that's because a diet in which protein makes up more than 30% of your caloric intake causes a buildup of toxic ketones. So-called ketogenic diets can thrust your kidneys into overdrive in order to flush these ketones from your body. As your kidneys rid your body of these toxic ketones, you can lose a significant amount of water, which puts you at risk of dehydration, particularly if you exercise heavily. That water loss often shows up on the scale as weight loss. But along with losing water, you lose muscle mass and bone calcium. The dehydration also strains your kidneys and puts stress on your heart. And dehydration from a ketogenic diet can make you feel weak and dizzy, give you bad breath, or lead to other problems. How Much Protein Do I Need? The amount of protein you require depends on your weight and your daily caloric intake. Most Americans consume more than enough protein in their daily diets. A few specific groups of people are at risk for being protein-deficient, including elderly women and people with illnesses or eating disorders. A protein deficiency is defined as eating 50% to 75% of the recommended amount of daily protein, Butterfield explains. Ideally, you should consume 0.36 grams of protein for every pound of body weight, according to recommended daily allowances (RDA) set by the Food and Nutrition Board. So if you weigh 170 pounds, you need about 61 grams of protein each day. Protein should also make up approximately 15% of your total daily caloric intake, also according to the RDA. In a diet of 1,800 calories a day, for example, about 270 of those calories should come from protein. +Too Much Protein So think twice when you consider sacrificing the carbohydrates for a protein-dominant diet, Butterfield says. Of course, looking at that math probably all of our kids eat more protein than that, but when you add on more of it in this, it could add up. Just things to be aware of, especially in young children. Probably not as big a deal for my kid, but personally I would be very hesitant to put a very young or low-weight child on it for the above reasons. I think the Vitamin E would hold me back faster than issues with the protein. Also depends on your kid's diet. Guest guest
Hi , Per scoop nutriiveda has 15 IU of vitamin e...and 10 grams of protein. We as a group used 200 to 400 IUs of vitamin e in this group for over 2 years with no side effects until from what I saw the product speak which took vitamin e (with added my opinion way too much mega vitamin k too) over the top being it went up to 1000 (yes one thousand) IUs of vitamin e alpha and 600 gamma from what I recall per 6 capsules -not even mentioning the k. Many of us no longer use extra vitamin e -some of the newer parents do because of old chatter that's still getting around, and of course those older members who have children that do need higher dosages for some reason. From what I read many stopped it after the initial surges and didn't see regression. It's probably needed- but not like fish oil long term...and surges were no where near as life changing as nutriiveda -I always described the vitamin e as fine tuning. As I say again and again - always please check with your doctor and nutritionist. Most fear comes from ignorance -so find the best of the best of the best to ask. I again spent a huge amount of time myself checking this out previous to even putting my own son on it and months with him on it before sharing it here. I share what I've seen in my son and encourage (over and over and over) to check it out...because I'm confident about this product nutriiveda. Yet I know there is STILL (shockingly) fear of fish oil...so not shocking that some will be afraid of nutriiveda for years and years and years too. You may be a newer member and missed conversation but we as a group have not been using adult dosage of nutriiveda for children. Adult dosage would be at least 2 scoops but most cases 4 scoops and the dosage on the label for nutritional info is per TWO scoops so cut in half per scoop. Dosage we've been posting here to check out with the doctor: 1-3 years old one scoop a day 4-8 years old two scoops a day 9 and up can be up to 4 scoops a day. Below is credible advice (not opinion) on dosages for protein and vitamin e. 2 to 3 years old 13 to 50 grams for 1,000 daily calories (nutriiveda per one scoop....10 grams protein) 4 to 8 years old 35 to 105 grams for 1,400 daily calories (nutriiveda per two scoops....20 grams protein) 9 to 13 years old 203 to 293 grams for 1,800 daily calories (nutriiveda per one, two, three or four scoop....10 to 40 grams protein) http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nutrition-for-kids/NU00606 (many are excited about the recent studies on how important protein and amino acids have been found to be on neuro repair) Vitamin e 1-3 300 IU (nutriiveda per one scoop....15 IU vitamin e) 4-8 450 IU (nutriiveda per two scoops ...30 IU vitamin e) 9-14 950 IU (nutriiveda per one, two, three or four scoops...15 -60 IU) http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminE.asp When you check I'm confident just about all cases it will be approved and in more and more cases not only does the doctor approve it -but wants to try it themselves! The following has much info that can be shared with your child's doctor...I can provide names and numbers for parents or professionals that are either using it or recommending it. http://www.facebook.com/lisa.geng#/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=13047 =====
Guest guest
Hi Lori -I have it all laid out here why I tried it on Tanner. And while I stress the food aspect so much it's because at one point too I was stressed about any possible side effects. This is why I say to check it out with the medical and nutritional experts you know or seek out because that's what I did. Not one, not two, not three -I can off the top of my head think of eight professionals I contacted and that was prior to me contacting PhDs online too! And yes I was and am aware of the fact that the product is formulated by world renowned medical doctors including Dr. Deepak Chopra who NEVER endorsed anything 3rd party prior. And the more I dug -the more I learned that it was like checking out a banana for side effects! Seriously. Again don't follow your gut because if like me you like in the Western culture you are more suspicious of Nutriiveda than Carnation Instant Breakfast -admit it! OK here are the two links -if you are a research queen like I am there is enough info in the following two to answer all your questions and if it doesn't let me know. I'll be back from holiday on Wednesday night but can answer easy questions like this Why I put Tanner on Nutriiveda to begin with -why we are using this as a fundraiser for Cherab and no one had nothing to do with the other -I too never intended this to be for kids http://pursuitofresearch.org/letter_lisa.html After Tanner's surges I shared it with Robin Ketchum and you can read 26 year old Mel's blog from the link on this page http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html (it was after Mel had surges almost from day one after decades of trying just about everything else under the sun that I shared here and you can read some of the other testimonies on that same link but that is just a sampling -many many many more at this point as it appears to be " working " almost across the board for all ages and diagnosis and again probably just because it's providing a nutrient that is needed) Parent theories on why nutriiveda may be working http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html Doctor theories for Nutriiveda from an archive but first a better question than why would a parent want to provide her child with all the much needed but hard to get into kids protein, ALL the essential amino acids, and nutrients all from a food based source that is gluten, casein, fat, sodium, caffeine free 100 percent natural with no known side effects or drug interactions and the only reason they say not for children is because it doesn't contain fat and Dr. chopra and the others didn't want parents taking overweight growing children and put them on this as meal replacement as growing kids need fat- but PS nutriiveda is not a weight loss product it's one that supports the metabolic system and will get rid of excess fat or toxins if one needs that but will help those that need to gain weight and muscle too...the question for the night is why would parents not question the fact that some doctors are treating our children like guinie pigs and putting them onto off label alzheimer's and herpes etc. medications that were developed for adults and have side effects that could happen to just about every organ of the body in adults...and we don't know the side effects in children yet...but can one of them be seizures??? Just a thought as there is a sudden rise in seizures coincidentally for kids with our children's type conditions that can just happen at older ages- and after??? And PS -may want to read Mel's blog to find out how her doctor feels nutriiveda is healing her brain based on neuro testing and that she'll be off all seizure meds by the end of this year -and her family is not the only one reporting reduction of seizures!: From Dr. Tom: Thanks for the inspiring testimonial. The results, although dramatic, are not surprising. The amino acid profile of NutriiVeda would undoubtedly assist and support the healing of any neurotransmitter deficiency, whether seizures, depression, anxiety disorder, insomnia. Parkinson's disease, due to its unique nature, would be less likely to show significant; however, we did have an unexpected and dramatic improvement in an individual with Parkinson's using Zrii. To answer the question/concern regarding serotonin level monitoring during the consumption of NutriiVeda: it is not necessary. However, if an individual does have any of the neurotransmitter deficiency disorders listed above and DOES wish to monitor their neurotransmitter levels, I would be most supportive of this documentation. The most extensive neurotransmitter testing available is done at home, rather than at a lab, on a morning urine, and is covered by most insurances including Medicare and HMO's. Many physicians, including Neurologists and Psychiatrists, are unaware of this home-based test, its insurance coverage, or how to interpret the results. Any IE or consumer wishing to obtain such neurotransmitter testing may contact Geng who will contact me directly. Email at lisa@... as she will pass on to me and I will have the lab test kit drop shipped to them. I will serve as the ordering physician and ensure their primary care physician receive a carbon copy of results. It takes care of some vital nutrients absolutely needed for the optimum functioning of neuro-physiology but also the herbs like Amalaki-Turmeric-Guggul- Gymnema work on opening the micro circulatory channels. They also regulate the various endocrine pathways. It is very likely that there is better oxygenation to the brain and harmonious functioning of the Rt and Lt hemispheres because of reduced inflammation. Serotonin- It does not increase or decrease anything but it regulates these subtle molecules by improved Lymphatic Return in the circulation. According to Ayurveda Serotonin and Melatonin are Sun/Moon, Male/Female, Silence/Dynamism, Yin/Yang like principles, which are effectively regulated by these intelligent herbs.
