Guest guest
One of Tanner's homework assignments tonight was he had to write a 3 day diary about staying in Antarctica. As many of you know his academics have soared since he has been on the nutriiveda. While he was reading it to me -Glenn said " who wrote this story? " And I know he just sat down and wrote it off the top of his head and Glenn said " But Tanner never wrote stories so eloquently before " I can't show all you guys how Tanner is nonstop reading now (up to book 3 of this series The Titan's Curse) -but I can share the following short story he just wrote which just flowed from him. I can assure you -in this area this is a tremendous surge for him. He's been a good student for years now -but there's always been a lag in writing...it clearly appears as if he's had a surge in writing -as well as imagination (as well as speech, facial expressions, sense of humor, and all the rest) All I can say is- just try the nutriiveda -this is just incredible the differences in such a short time and it is noticeable by everyone- not just us but friends and his school professionals! There is nothing else different but this one addition- and as you'll be hearing more and more...it's not just Tanner and Mel anymore. (Mel's story http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about ) Here is Tanner's story: Tanner Geo 2 2/4/10 Diary of my 3 days in Antarctica Day one: I came to Antarctica by ship with a group of other people. It was freezing out and some parts were incredible to look at but some parts it looks like lots of ice had melted. I set up my tent and started a fire. I was all alone but I wasn't scared. I took out my camera and I went to go take pictures of penguins. So I saw a bunch of them so I just laid down on the ground and sooner or later they started to come right up next to me. It was so cool and I couldn't believe they weren't scared of me! After that experience I headed back to my tent and I caught a fish and cooked it up over my fire and it wasn't half bad. I was going to go take some more penguin shots but the sun was starting to go down and I didn't feel like getting caught in a hole in the snow or falling through some thin ice. So I laid out my sleeping bag and closed up my tent and fell asleep. Day two: I woke up and grabbed some food out of my bag and left with my equipment and headed toward the research center for the United States. Once I got there they were heading out on the boat to study the whales so I went with them. We saw a Humpback Whale jumping out of the water again and again. I saw a glacier that had a hole in it. It was amazing and I figured it was around nine feet high. I wanted to go in but I knew if something happened it could collapse and that wouldn't be good so none of us took a chance of going in. So after we saw some amazing stuff we headed back to the research center and had some dinner. They had heat and tables and all the things that I didn't have in my tent. But after I was done with dinner I said goodbye and headed back for my tent. While I was walking back to my tent I saw a seal sliding into the water. Day three: Today was colder than the other two days and I had to wear an extra jacket and I was still cold. It was a cloudy day so I didn't have the sun to warm me at all. Since I had seen that one seal yesterday I wanted to seek out more seals close up. So I gathered my gear and I went hiking up to the mountain to look to see where the seals were. I had a pretty good view but while I was hiking up I had trouble breathing so I stopped on a ledge. I took some pictures while I was up there but I didn't know if they would come out OK because of the altitude. While I was up on the ledge I saw a hole with seals coming out to take a breath. I didn't see any polar bears so I climbed down the hill. I knew it was risky but went towards it anyway and it was amazing seeing all the seals. I couldn't believe how many there were. The problem was I didn't have much time to see all the stuff I wanted to see. But I guess the next time I came back I can do other things that I didn't get to do this time. Then in the corner of my eye I saw a polar bear twenty feet away from me walking toward him. I slowly started to walk backwards so as not to aggravate the bear. My heart was pounding but I knew if the bear knew how scared I was he would more likely go after me so I tried to be calm. While I was walking backward the ice cracked so I had to take off my bag and leave it there. I tried to take the important items out. So while the polar bear was walking up to the hole it saw the hole and ignored it and went walking towards me but went for my bag instead. It started to sniff and rip up my bag and while the polar bear was busy doing this I safely made it out of there alive! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ =====
Guest guest
I hope that Tanner remembered to take his camera! LOL Way to go Tanner! I've been thinking of ordering, my pediatrician said it was OK. You have posted two sites www.pursuitofresearch.org and www.nutraeasy.com and both let you order. Does it matter if we order from one or the other? Kate > > One of Tanner's homework assignments tonight was he had to write a 3 day diary about staying in Antarctica. Guest guest
love the juxtaposition: " ...it looks like lots of ice had melted. I set up my tent and ___started a fire___. Guest guest
Thanks Kate and Thad! What I forgot to mention was that during the third day on this diary he needed to write (at the on the ledge part) was when Glenn interrupted Tanner to say " who wrote this story?! " I don't know about the rest of apraxic children but when Tanner first started talking typically if you interrupted him he most likely lose his train of thought. It used to be like that when he was just talking -and as he got older prior to the nutriiveda he was OK in talking but would lose his train of thought if interrupted if he was writing. He was on such a roll I was sad that Glenn cut in -but nope didn't affect Tanner he went right back to the story (SO not like him from just a month or so ago!) Also...typically when Tanner has to write a story he'll write a sentence or so and he's done and ask me " is this enough? " And I'm like " are you kidding?! You wrote 2 sentences that's not a story! " -this time he had more and more to add to the story and with no help from me- he was as I said on a roll -it just flowed. I just posted Tanner's grades and again I expect his grades to go up more...not that they can go 'that' much higher =====
