Guest guest
Hi, My little boy was just like your son and totally non verbal at his 2nd birthday (I was scared to death). He finally called me mama at 27 months and at 30 months started saying some single words. This past fall (at 32 months old) we increased his ST to 5x a week and he started pre-school 3 half days. I have no clue really what made the huge difference, my guess would be going from 3x a week to 5x a week of ST but whatever it was it was nothing short of a miracle! Henry turned 3 last week and talks non-stop in 3/4 word sentences but you only understand about 50% of what he is saying. I NEVER thought I would be saying this only a year after his 2nd birthday. Keep the faith and get his as much ST as you can afford or get! Hi, my little boy is 24mths and totally non verbal. He doesn't even really have any sounds. I was curious to know if anyone else's little one was like this at this age, and did go on to have some speech. What techniques/therapy did you use? We are about to start the Pro-EFA and have started seeing a PROMPT therapist.
Guest guest
My son said his first word ( " more " ) at 28 months. At 36 months the school District felt that the words he had was 70% unintelligible, we felt like translators for him. At almost 4 ½ he is no longer unintelligible at all and can formulate long and complex sentences, up to 4 in a row that are understood by most anyone. Today he tried to get out of going to school by saying " Mom, I can't go school today. I have a little bit tummy ache. My computer makes me feel better. I wanna play Matterhorn. " We have 2 hours weekly of 1:1 speech from the SD and we fund 2 hours weekly. I think it is a combo of this speech and some alternative therapies that have made the difference. Hang in there! All my best! > > Hi, my little boy is 24mths and totally non verbal. Guest guest
This is a GREAT start! My son is now 4 and was also totally non-verbal at age 2. He gained a few words from age 2 to 3, but not much. He talks a up storm now though - after 18 months of therapy, 7 months of fish oil and a week and a half of Nutriiveda. You are one whole year ahead of us! I thought it was " normal " that wasn't talking at age 2. I thought he was just a late talker. But, it ended up being something much more serious. You're a whole year ahead of us, and I am thrilled with 's progress in just 18 short months. PROMPT really helped us get the ball rolling with therapy. It helped Coop connect the dots per say with sounds and letters. He started PROMPT at age 3. These days, he needs little prompt cues because he's mastered most of his letters. Now he working on stringing whole sentences together with good articulation. Good luck to you! It sounds like you are on a great path!
